Tim covered mine in black carpet, and it looks good with all the black trim on the car, and it also matches the black face of the speaker.

I have considered doing a black or grey, but would love OEM, doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon. I guess I will go with a Vinyl grey similar to the greyish materials in the car, don't really want to go black in the trunk.

Nobody at Toyota could tell me how to get OEM carpet for mine (must be totally exclusive, with very low stock....), so I went with the black... Matches everything else great. Couldn't have done it better myself! lol

The black will look even better if/when we get an enclosure for the other side, also!

Agreed on getting enclosure for other side, I love symmetry, however I just think a tan or beige will look so much better in the trunk where there is no black currently.

The funny thing about the OEM gray interior is that the carpet in the trunk is a totally different shade of gray than the seats, carpet, and mats in the rest of the car. Or maybe their stock was so low they had to change suppliers in mid-production of my car! :D

I've always thot that was the funkiest thing about the car (well......ONE of the funkiest things) ---- the fact that my entire front part of the interior is tan, and then the hatch/trunk area is gray. In my book, gray and tan do NOT go together at all. Some designers try to be trendy and mix and match them in clothing....but, in general, the rule has always been to not wear gray with tan. So, that should apply to cars. Oh, well. I keep several things in the back that cover up the gray anyway, so it's no big deal. Things that are MORE of a big deal are that I've been waiting for my body kit for a year this month from Japan, I finally get it delivered, and they sent the wrong wheels................. AAAARRGGHHH!!!!

All interior options have the same headliner and rear cargo area light gray color. That and the dirt factor is why I went dark gray inside for mine to "better" match.

Mat the rear hatch for sure and replace any damaged clips. Use one sided foam tape "as required" for source identified areas of the rear floor panels. Also consider polyfill to "increase the volume" of the enclosure and help eliminate any sub "buzz". See Inseek's post #137. Forgot to ask before I left, did you have them secure the box?

Well it looks like I have a chance to pick up a slightly used Hertz HX250.

I would like to pick up one of Tim's boxes but by the time it is shipped up here would cost an arm and leg.

So if I get the speaker, think you all can step me through the process of making the box? I have a little experience with fiberglass.

You can see the step-by-step, just don't do the mold-making steps.

Look at the first row of pics, then the last three rows. Get it between 3/16-1/4" thick.

How bad was smell in the car and how long did it last?

On the first coat (over the tape), did you simply coat with resin or did you lay cloth down as well?

    Thanks Tim.

If it is guarantied serviceable from a reputable source, perhaps yes with your unique cost overhead. New from authorized would still be best, because of warranty. This really is a quality component sub. I still would like to hear one in Tim's box compared to mine since I already have cost involved. Will check with Rick after Thanksgiving to hear his with the JLW3.

Well, its a ebay buy. The sellers got 100% on 62 sells. The shipping will cost him $53 so the speaker will essentially cost $150.

I purchased my JLW3 and Rockford Fosgate 200.2 Amp from a fellow forum member on E46 Fanatics: 3-Series, BMW Forums, BMW Modifications, E46 BMW for $300 shipped. I would think you could get a similar deal, but that may be the best you can do. My Sub and Amp are in perfect working order.
