    Bigger tires = lower MPG
    I wouldn't.
Besides, different sizes of EP422 have shockingly different speed/load rating, research it first.

what you want is the closest size they have to 830 Revs per mile. In the Ecopia EP422 the list is

    852 185/65/15
    833 195/65/15

There is no 205/65/15, maybe they meant 205/55/16 and selling you 4 new 16" rims? Or maybe they offered you a tire in another brand/model?

    hi all

I just called Costco to confirm that is right, they are order a set for me is Ecopia ep422 205/65/15 NOT 205/55/16, I just wonder between 195 and 205 how much mpg I am going lose? if you guys got any info about this I would like to know, and the cost OTD is 406, I think it is very reasonable and I can wait for 6 to 8 weeks for 195, please give me your advice!

Khoi, if Costco cannot get the tire you need then call your local America's Tire Company (Discount Tire) store. Every tire store should offer the $70 rebate on the Bridgestone tires so you are not limited to just Costco. :)

Take a look at Ecopia EP422 (eco): Bridgestone Tires and you'll see there is no such tire listed. So we have two possible situations

    1. they can get you a tire that isn't listed on the manufacturers website (or any other website for that matter).

    2. they are offering you some other tire (or don't know what they are ordering).

If they could somehow get you a EP422 in 205/65/15 it'll be off by a little over 2% on the speedometer and odometer. It may weigh slightly more per tire or it may weigh significantly more per tire (anywhere from .2 pounds per tire to 3 pounds per tire).

You are dealing with who knows what kind of tire since it isn't listed anywhere on the internet.

But assuming it really is a brand new high quality EP422 in the size mentioned it'd make a very minor actual difference in MPG while making a bigger difference in how your speedometer and odometer accuracy behave (thus changing the displayed MPG on the MFD).

I wouldn't worry about the MPG difference at all, I'd worry about what they are trying to sell you.

Why don't you just go someplace else and get the right size tires?

    hi

believe me, I tried but no where I can find in San Diego at all, by the way if i do not like the tires for any reason I will go with Energy Save and pay for the different, It is good that I can try both for experience, I heard so much good thing for Ecopia also Energy Save, the only different is the cost about 100 dollars, Why so hard to find those tires anyway?? do you guys know why?

    hi all

I went down to Costco today and I asked about my order, it turn out that they order Ecopia EP100 205/65/15 not EP422 205/65/15, and it should be in next couple days, the manager told me that go head and try out for about month if I did not like it he will order EP422 195/65/15 and let me using the tires until it come in or I can switch to Energy Saver whichever I chose not bad huh guys!!, What you guys thinks??

The ecopia EP100 is a summer only tire. Definitely not good for snow/ice/winter use.

Also the revs per mile on that is 818. It's a little over 2% off ideal making your speedometer read slower than actual speed (not good for avoiding speeding tickets) and making your odometer read less miles than you travel (not by much but it will mess with your MPG calculations and the displayed MPG).

Visually I like the looks of the EP100 better (center channel for wet traction is nice) but I'd rather have an all season tire.

If they can get Energy Saver A/S or EP422 in 195/65/15 I'd definitely swap. I don't know which tire is better but the Michelin is tested as very low RR, the EP422 hasn't gotten the same coverage so it's the unknown as to fuel economy/traction between the two.

    832 195/65/15 Michelin Energy Saver A/S with Green X
    833 195/65/15 Bridgestone Ecopia EP422

    hi

I am in southern California " beautiful San Diego :) " I don't believe ever get snow/ice at all " at least for 21 years I lived in San Diego, so do you think EP100 is ok for my area?

Totally! It's one of the recommendations I gave you in my PM reply. You really don't need an all-season tire like the EP422.

Turns out San Diego isn't a world away from these things called mountains. :)

If you don't ski, don't drive through the mountains, to the mountains, over the mountains for any of your trips/hobbys/vacations then sure a summer only tire could work for you. I just wanted to make sure you realized it was a summer tire.

    Enjoy your warm weather.

All else being equal, a 205 mm width tyre is 5% wider than a 195. City driving is somewhere around 70% tyre friction of total, while highway speeds of 65 - 70 mph are about 50% tyre friction of total. So expect about a 2.5% drop in your usual MPG on the highway, and 3.5% drop in city driving.
