I recently rebooted my navigation trying to load a new nav cd. Now whenever I get near my house, which is programmed as a destination on my gps, the navigation plays a little melody. This is getting pretty annoying and I cant seem to find a setting in the menu to turn it off.

Has anybody had this problem? If so how can I disable it?

I was stuck on the It's a Small World ride many many years ago with my then 8 year old nephew. The speaker was about 10 feet from our car, and it was really LOUD, and after 20 minutes VERY ANNOYING, somehow, the speaker wire magically became disconnected, I still however can not get the damn tune out of my head... for those of you that do not understand, turn up the sound on the following URL and watch it over and over for 20 plus.....

it's a small world, Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World, (HD) - Longer Version - YouTube

Thankfully statute of limitations ran out years ago....

Its not really a setting, but a choice of icon for "home" Just delete the home icon (or set a new non-audio one) and the silence will return.

If you know where you are, why are you running the nav?

it happens even when the navigation is off. Its announcing I have arrived even though I never set a destination.

I thought I did. My answer was a serious one. The sound you hear when you get near home is caused by a musical icon that is set at that location. Either your home icon is set to one of the musical ones, or you have registered an additional memory point that has attached a musical icon near your home. I can't tell which is the case without seeing your Nav screen and the two have slightly different fixes. The Home icon is the most likely culprit, so I’ll cover that one first.

If it is your "home icon" - then you need to press the Menu button (top right beside the MFD), choose "My Places" on the screen and then on that screen you will see that the second choice is Home and you can only delete it. Choose Delete. You can Add your Home location back in afterwards. When you add it be sure to choose a basic icon for it. See below about an icon choice.

If it is not your Home icon that is the problem, then you will need to press the Menu button, choose "My Places" on the screen and then on that screen you will select from the top choice set to EDIT memory points. Look through your list of remembered places (use on screen arrow keys) for one set near your home address. Choose the one that is near your home. On the screen that comes up next, choose ICON. There are 3 pages of icons you can choose. Page 3 specifically says, “Icons with sound.†You don’t want one of those. Choose one of the icons on the first two pages.

Once you have found and changed the icon set near your home that is one of the icons with sound for a regular icon, you will no longer get the music when you arrive home. Likely you will soon miss the welcoming sound and want it back :)
