my uncle (her father) also died of lung cancer, but he caught it early. they did extensive chemo (this was 15 years ago so not a lot of hope then) and he suffered greatly. he was bed ridden for the last 3-4 months and weighed 78 lbs when he died. i would not want that for anyone.

he is the reason why i am glad i live in a state that allows physician assisted suicide. i am all for hope and if there is a chance, no matter how small (you are the PERFECT EXAMPLE!) then fight it!! but sometimes there comes a point where prolonging the issue benefits no one.

I couldn't agree with you more, brother. Sometimes it's not about ego or shame. It's about doing what is best for the individual. No one should be forced to suffer just because society deems it the right thing to do.

Going in for a CT scan tonight. I have not had one in about 5-6months so we'll see what this pesky little tumor is doing (I only had one left at the time of the last scan). I have three scenarios in mind:

    1. The tumor has disappeared. They will keep me on chemo a while longer then take me off of it and just observe. (I've been on chemo for the last 2.5yrs or so.)

    2. The tumor is still present and unchanged. They will keep me on chemo until it disappears or something new comes out to eliminate it.

    3. More tumors are present or the one has grown. I will stay on chemo but they will add more toxic drugs and life will suck. Or they will remove a portion of my lung. This is the scary scenario as I will be running on borrowed time.

Wish me luck, my friends! :)

    Good luck, Justin!!!

I knew someone who had a lung removed. Her ability to exercise is greatly reduced, but she's still alive and well many years later. I'll hope you don't have to have that done, however.

Thanks, Daniel. I hope I don't have to remove a lung but if it meant I would live then by all means break out the scalpel, chainsaw or whatever! :)

Good luck, Justin. You have fought a long, hard battle and have been able to remain positive. I have a lot of respect for you and will pray for No. 1.

Justin, I root for you every day. Cancer has not been good to the people around me but you have really put up a fight. A definite rock star!

Best of luck, my friend. Being strong and positive has kept you going this long.

If you see anybody in the hospital with a chainsaw, run! :)

Luck bro, I hope your scan is as boring as network television.

I had a CT scan a couple of weeks ago that showed some new small spots. A follow on PET scan showed the spots aren't active so I will get another CT scan in 2 months to be sure they aren't active. The tension sucks, doesn't it?

I agree with Hyo: Be sure to ask your surgeon what implements s/he uses. If the answer is chainsaw, seek one who uses a scalpel instead. But we're all still hoping it does not come to surgery. I'll be watching this thread for the results of your scan.

You've gone through the previous treatment and recovered. Keep up your good spirit to do the same again. All best wishes to you.

Justin, your story, over the years, has enabled me to get one of my fellow numbskull co-workers (age 62) to go in for his 1st colonoscopy. Finally. Some people . . . you have to drop an anvil on 'em.

You're in our prayers my friend.

Thank you. Believe it or not posts like these help me keep on truckin'. :D

You seem to be surrounded by cancer. I just hope you get a break and the rest of your family stays healthy for a long time.

    I've watched Halloween 1-10. You can't outrun a chainsaw. :(

PET scans are very helpful but be sure to advocate for yourself because sometimes the scans don't tell the whole story. I had multiple scans done and they thought I only had one met in my liver. During the surgery to remove a chunk of my liver they found another small met that didn't show up on the scans. Keep me posted. I'll keep my fingers crossed, bru.

I am not even diggin' the scalpel. I want the new fangled techno lazer show. Maybe they can play Metallica like they do at the laser light shows. lol

I a way I am less afraid of the surgeries than I am the chemo.

    Paul, you rock. :)

I'm glad he decided to have it done. That is the whole reason for this thread. I do not seek sympathy although your posts always cheer me up and this struggle would be much harder with all the support I get on this forum. The point is to try and live healthy and be your own advocate when it comes to health care. No one cares for you like you so get off your butt and get it scanned! :cheer2:

Thanks, Mark. The not knowing part is killin' me.

Thank you, Brett. I just saw your PM. I'm really bad about checking them. That means a lot to me. We'll have to grab a coffee or beer next time you're in town. Maybe we can drag xs650, darelldd, TheCritic, Amm0bob, and Dogfriend along.

I have an appointment with my Oncologist next week to discuss things. The new stuff is too small for a biopsy so we will probably just watch for a couple of months.

Me too and I have never had Chemo:eek:
I'll second that, you seriously might be saving some lives by making people more aware.

Sounds like a good idea. Since we all own Prii it won't cost much to drive to the meeting point:D
