Hi everyone. I recently installed 2 subs in my JBL equipped Prius. I found the stock JBL EQ'ing to be a PITA after a while and decided to do something about it. As you all know, we need a line out converter in order to install subs in our Prius'. By doing so, you get a lot of rolloff below 70hz~ from the converter as well as from the factory eq'ing. The factory eq'ing gives us a bump at about 65-75hz, and then a steep rolloff above and below. So in effect we are missing out on all of the nice bass notes below that. I have tuned my system so I have a flat response all the way from about 38hz to 100hz.

If anyone would be interested, I took a video of how I was able to tune my system using free spectrum analyzer software and a cheap condenser microphone, but Im not going to spend time publishing it here if no one is interested.

This would be for anyone who basically wants to get their car to sound like it should. Feedback wanted! Thanks!

That is sorta the whole point of the board here. Make the Prius better and share how you did it. Now sit back down, write up the process and throw in a couple of pictures. I did when I dropped a sub in my baby, installed a DRL system, and Battery maintenance system. All with write ups so the other chatters could try the mod themselves.
    Ya gotta share man!

I'm confused. I'm just using the speaker level inputs on my sub coming from the speaker level outputs on the JBL.

    Bringt it on... ;)

How? I've dabbled with active filtering to overcome the limits of a sub-enclosure (read: rectify the roll-off so the home-sub was linear to 25Hz or so), but that was simply plug in some numbers from a box-building program into some hefty calculations to arrive at certain C and R values in a standard active cross-over (~6 op amp stages or so). DIY design from a magazine, so only medium knowledge needed (which is about my limit: medium knowledge :D)

    This sounds more difficult?!?

If you have access to a "Real Time Analyser, you can set it that way. There are several good Apps for both Droid and Iphone that give a pretty good response graph. At that point just tweak the EQ to hear and see what's going on!

    - No I don't think we have one of those at work.
    - I'm on WM6.5  but the wife has Android 2.2 iirc, can you share some names of apps I should be looking for?
    - What EQ? The basic HU just has a bass and treble or have I not looked into it enough? To complicate things, I have a Parrot with its own amp running interference (Parrot amp is used with USB/Line-in and iPod).

And I need the info as I possibly just won an active Fusion sub
