Good quality aftermarket HID headlights

Ugggg 10,000K? Really? Return them and get the 5,000K bulbs. 10,000 is ridiculously purple and will not put out much light. In fact they will put out less lumens than your stock halogen bulbs. 10,000K = Ricer

Please Khoi, return them and get better bulbs mate. You'll thank me later.

 

Ditto above. More ks less lumens. It's the lumens which enable you to see. I have 4500k bulbs in mine. beutiful white light. sure helps avoid kangaroos. They do as much damage as deer.

 

I got a set of Phillips D1S OEM HID bulbs (4300k) rebased from ebay years ago and used OEM Toyoto balllasts. The whole set cost about $180. They worked flawless for years but I just checked and no one does that anymore.(re-based bulbs)

I've also had good results with Sportiva HIDs from Ebay. They're about $60 and have digital ballast and don't flicker.

Stay away from the Zentec/$30 HIDs, you get what you pay for.

Paying a bit more for QUALITY is the way to go, I've had cheap HID bulbs "pop" in the headlight leaving a mess of hot glass and fogged up the lens on a Miata years ago. (back when the cheap $30 kits used to cost $450 and the factory kits were $1500)

I I don't mean to hijack this thread, I put this here b/c it's related . My apologies. My question is: now that i have solid info on HID's; what is better? 35W 4100 to 4300k HID's w ballasts or the addition of fog lights or both of those options.? I have a modest amount of $ I'm willing to spend and i do not like the lighting of my stock Prius II headlights. What are my best options that will imrpove night time driving re headlights with solid, clear light spray? Thanks and if i overstepped by tagging on...sorry

 

what's a modest amount? With a HID kit, you won't need to use fogs lamps anymore.. unless you drive in a lot of fog?
