    But remember that most of the cars on the boat won't be PIP, there are a lot of cars that come from Japan on the same boat including regular Prius, Prius V, Highlander, Siena, Yaris, and even some Camry and Corollas although most of these are built in the US and Canada.

    I agree. This sucks big time. This email says nothing. Toyota has something to learn from BMW and Mini on providing "customization" and real time production status. I was hoping to see something like:

    1. Your order has been entered in the Toyota Awesome Real-time Tracking System.
    2. Your Production Queue # is 467
    3. Mr. Kawaguchi is your Production Order Coordinator
    4. Your parts have been delayed due to flood in Thailand and economic tsunami in EU
    5. Here is a picture of parts that are sitting on production floor
    ....

    2 months wait for Mini to be produced and shipped is good time - Given the shipping and custom clearance would take 4-6 weeks. You get to customize your car to the specific options/interior/exterior colors you want.

    With PIP, there is no complexity in colors and option combinations, you would imaging there is any production issue except parts availability.

    I am #762. I am sure it has to do with what's ordered and what they can build first. And, that's a very broad window of time to start off with.

    I'm 3793. I reordered two days ago to change the color.

    Production is scheduled based on "the time at which a customer confirms the order in the Online Order System". My original order got held up 12 hours because the dealer didn't know I was in the Certified Dealer program, so I had a low order number but was way behind everyone who hopped on it iin the first few hours.

    That said, for most people here, their order numbers probably correlate pretty strongly with confirmation date/time and are easier to compare.

    I didn't get an email (my # is 282) and I confirmed at 9:16 a.m. 11/17 while 1846 got an email but confirmed at 4:00 p.m. But all of those who posted that they got emails were Base models and I ordered Advanced. That appears to explain the difference. When all is said and done, correlations may be difficult because of the many things like when they are running particular colors, etc.

    Is it better to keep us guessing about these and other related considerations? I think it would be better to be open so that we could feel closer to the action.

    I am wondering if there is any correlation with advanced trim vs non or if certain color batches are being grouped due to numbers... as in they may save the more popular colors for later so they can just rip through a giant batch...

    Save us Prius Team... you're our only hope... (/cough)

    Allannde, I have the advanced on order and received an email. Sorry that torches that particular theory. What about color?

    Since my last name starts with "B" and I got an email, and Dianne's last names starts with "W" and she didn't get one, the email batches may be sorted by last name.

    I just checked and the four who posted that they got emails who have later confirmation times than mine and they are are all different colors! That theory is torched, too.

    I agree with your call to the Prius Team.

    edit: my last name starts with a "d" (yes it is lower case) which torches that theory, too.

    Last name one letter before Dianne's, so I would have to agree with Allannde. Could it simply be random, in order to keep us all guessing? :)

    Another confounding factor: "... available quantities will vary by state. In states with high demand, customers should expect longer wait times for their ordered vehicle."

    That doesn't explain why others with later confirmation times and higher order numbers got emails and I did not because California is an infinitely higher demand state than Washington State (mine). California people got emails.

    So far, the best explanation is random.

    The best explanation is that Toyota doesn't have the best web programmers in the world; those guys work at Google. But the guys at Google who are trying to build cars aren't doing all that great, because the car experts work at Toyota.

    Relax, we'll get our cars. Maybe they'll build all the silver ones first, or all the Advanced ones, who knows? We don't really have any control over it, and whether you ordered at 9:02 AM or 9:17 AM probably won't have an effect in the end. The biggest factor is whether they have a manufacturing glitch, and we can't control that.

    I got the email and I was order #84, picked blue and advanced, and my last name begins with a C for whoever is still looking for a pattern. ;)

    It could also be related to the order we registered in the preorder system, or perhaps the order of the user ID we use to log into the system. For me I regisered early on the first day that you could register on the pre-order system, ordered a base in white and got a confirmation number of 122 and confirmed by 9:15am first initial A first initial of user id A - got the email.

    From observing all the problems that I and the dealer had on the Web, probably those that orderedd last will get the PIP first.

    I've added a Build Estimate column to the spreadsheet, and entered "Feb - Mar" for all those who posted above that they got the email, and who are already in the spreadsheet.

    The latest confirmation time of those I entered was 11/17 16:00.

    If more people enter their info in the spreadsheet, we might get a clearer picture.:welcome:

    agreed, but hard as it is to wait, i really don't want mine until spring. they should go to the warmer climes first. :)

    I agree with you. A relaxed point of view is usually best for the disposition anyway.

    Toyota has a fine record of trying to keep customers happy and sometimes this is hard.

    I have learned that constructive use of creating expectations works very well in getting and keeping support of people like us. We can draw our own conclusions when we understand how the system works. When it seems to be secret, one wonders if the secrecy is hiding favoritism or incompetence.

    That is not the kind of expectations which are helpful.
