need to push the car

    every owner of Prius in my country (cambodia) want to know how setting to car can push when the engine is turned off ? it is very necessary in any even such as parking on public area , towing ,etc.

    The car needs to be at least in accesory mode, or in ready mode to select neutral. If you have an EV button, you can turn on the car, press EV, and the engine will not start up while you put it in neutral and push it. you could also drive it in EV mode.

    You would like to have people push your car out of the way if you are not there?

    It is not possible to have the car in neutral unless it is IG-ON or Ready.

    The only way you might be able to do this is to activate the parking pawl after you turn it off. From the service manual:

    After receiving the signal, the transmission control ECU activates the shift control actuator in order to unlock the parking lock mechanism, and turns off the P position switch indicator light.

    I wish I could provide some good info, but all I can say is that you would need to tap into the wiring harness at the transmission ECU, and determine how the parking pawl gets its signal to engage or disengage. There are 3 wires labeled "transmission lock motor" on the wiring diagram, corresponding to terminals 10, 11, and 12 at the transmission ECU. If it is simple, it would be a matter of having switches between two of these wires and the 12V battery, where one switch is to disengage the pawl after turning off, and one is to engage the pawl before restarting. But it may not be simple, and there is risk of damage to the transmission ECU, parking pawl, and perhaps even the transaxle, if you make a mistake. If you can find a wrecked Prius to experiment, that would be best.

    Wouldn't it be simpler to just carry a Battery Jump kit in the car if you are that concerned about having to push your car?

    No. The short answer is that you can't do what you want to do. There is no standard or optional way to make a Prius roll freely when powered down.

    There is a trick that can be used in special circumstances, but it still requires power. To do it, you shift into N to disengage the parking pawl, then pull the fuse supplying power to the parking pawl. This prevents the pawl from engaging when you power down. I don't recommend using this technique on a regular basis.

    it is necessary in my country, mostly of parking lots have no enough space, so the parking assistant asks me for shifting to N .

    Since I work with people learning languages a lot...

    There're have been some questions about the precise way hengngoanlim phrased his/her questions. It's the translation into a second language, it's not that it's absolutely "necessary" all the time, so responders, don't get too interested in that part of the question. Just imagine "it's very necessary in any event" to be something like the colloquial "sometimes you have to", like when you tow it, etc. "To have to do something" is likely not in the immediate linguistic reach of speakers of English as a second language, at least in production, since "have" usually means, well, "to have", though in the above case the word has a different, colloquial significance.

    Pulling the fuse or tapping ECU wires is almost the same thing. If tapping the transmission ECU, it may be possible to have a 2 way switch on the wires, where one way disengages the pawl, and one way engages the pawl. Just like the switch to lock or unlock the doors. But the problem is, it would involve an experiment with very expensive parts (transmission computer, transaxle). Maybe it is something that Heng could test with other Prius owners in his area?

    To avoid any mistake, i wish you describe more detail . there are three wires :white, red and black color labeled "transmission lock motor", which one is to disengage the pawl after turning off and how to make a switch of it ?

    For the benefit of all non-Asian members, parking in various places around Asian cities is limited, even on the street, there is a limit to the parking places, but people are encouraged to double and even triple park. Places like Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines all have "parking" people who look after a section of the parking area, or street. Rather than put your money in a parking meter, you pay the "parker". Now if you end up as a double or triple park candidate, you are asked to leave the car in neutral, hand brake off, wheels facing fore and aft, but lock the car. Then the "parker" can push the car back and forward to let other cars out/in. If you cannot let the "parker" do this, it really limits your options when you need to park the car.

    Hengngoanlim, I think that the only way to get the Prius to do this is to make the mods suggested by some of the others.

    Heng, I don't know of you are still with us, but I have a simple suggestion for you and others with the problem.

    1. Install a 12V battery disconnect switch.
    2. When you stop, turn the 12V battery switch to off.
    3. Place the car in N.
    4. Press the power button to turn off the car. In the absence of 12V power, the parking pawl will not engage.
    5. Use the emergency key in the FOB to lock the door.

    Upon return,

    1. Unlock the door with emergency key.
    2. Turn 12V switch to On.
    3. Start the car (takes two pushes of the Power button)
    4. Reset the power window (roll window half way down, then roll up window and hold button for two seconds)

    Shift to N, then pull the PCON MTR relay
    That disables Park, but the car gets unhappy
    Do what the screen says: set emergency brake
    ... then you can at least shut down

    Once restored, clear the error state DTCs

    Step 2 upon return, you will not be able to open trunk, so do not install 12V disconnect in trunk, like I did. Better to install under hood. IF: that works, as both connections are in Parallel. That being the case, install inside car where-ever easily available.
