Factory look gps on ebay

Seller has yet to revert on this query on that outstanding socket.

I have to choose custom car setting under the steering wheel learning mode to enabled the phone dial and hang buttons. What I'm missing now is the voice dial capability which I often use with the original stock unit.

The DVD, SD, A2DP (plays my iPhone music) and GPS signal works. I'm pretty much toying with the GPS system; I'm not a great fan for Win CE systems so trying hard to find a good GPS software to work.

Maybe you need to set your region? DVDs (region 2) play OK on my unit.

Menu > Settings
At the bottom of the settings screen there is a 1 and a 2. Press 2 and this will show page 2 of the settings. On here you have option for boot screen.

On the second settings page there is also an option to set your radio region. This might fix your RDS.

 

Voice dial doesn't work for me either.
Maybe I should ask motonavi...

 

Thanks for asking. The DVD mode is working now and mine plays okay on my unit. Actually, I'm not really keen on watching video while driving; it's more for the passengers though.

I shall try out the settings and let you know if it works.

I didn't order from aliexpress but from Ebay instead. There were two Ebay entries posted by the same seller then, namely items 260915722536 and 260894402176. According to the seller, one would not work in Australia and UK and an external TV box may be needed to enjoy TV function. Just make sure you spell out your requirements to the seller before ordering.

 

in fact for eltric the ebay asked pay for about 10-12% of the total price included paypal fee.
you can list a such device on your ebay store to have a check.

 

Motonavi says that the unit does not have voice dial bluetooth support.

 

Yes. The absence of this feature is a big letdown; considering the manufacturer has pretty much customized the feel and look to the OEM version. I think the software side needs more work....

Another update. The GPS works but the port settings are different from what was advertised.

 

As far as i know that,the GPS file path setting depends on map software.port seeting ?what do you mean by that?

 

The eBay indicates the unit to be using 9600 bps com 3 settings. But it's tuned to 4800 bps com 2 instead.

 

so, how about all the function you feel? the disadvangtage and advangtages? i did not learn much about that port setting,
so can you tell us about that?

 

Well, function-wise it generally meets my expectations.

[1] Factory fit look. The main reason I purchased this in the first place.
[2] A2DP. This enables me to play my iphone music via bluetooth. No need for ipod cables.
[3] SD function
[4] Region-free DVD playback.
[5] GPS device is unlocked. Tried both iGo & Garmin which work. I did spent a while trying to get GPS to work because it initially stalled wen detecting the satellites. Turned out that I was using the wrong serial port settings (see my last post) in the software settings. I ran a utility called GPSScanDebug that calls out the proper comm port setting and has rectified the configurations.

[1] The steering wheel software is actually a generic to work on all other models. I had to reconfig the phone buttons using the custom setup (there's no Prius setup); I also lost the voice dial capability, which also rendering the mic button on my steering wheel useless.
[2] No RDS (not a big issue for me though)
[3] Installation Guide. This is a big minus and the technical document should accompany the product offering.
[4] The SD/6-virtual CD mode does not offer the random playback mode.

I didn't try the USB functions nor the TV because I don't need them. The OS of the unit is a Chinese Windows CE version (which is fine by me).

the RDSfunction only used in EU,i am not sure.For Southeast Asia there no RDS service,seems their market is on UK.

iGo8 also has auto detect GPS device which can find the correct settings.
Also like the backup camera function.

RDS works in Europe but is like an addon.

The user guide is not very good and doesn't seem to match the software on the unit. You have to do a lot of experiments to find out how to use it.

+1 I would like random play as well. Plus, for SD and virtualCD the unit does not have a feature to play all folders/CDs one after the other.

There is a hidden setup screen for SD. Go to SD card playback. Navigate to the root folder. Press the STOP key (The white square). This will bring up the media type selection screen. Press the STOP key again. This will bring up the settings screen.

 

JVC AWX-840 has all the bells and whistles and its less than $400. I got mines with everything I needed and the steering wheel controls for $504 with CA tax and free ship.

By all means plug your own choice of HU on an appropriate thread, but spamming several unrelated threads just annoys the heck out of some people.........

 

I take it you are one of those people that get annoyed. Sorry I was trying to offer suggestions to people on a good HU to get.

I'm RHD prius owner.
Just finish the installation of HU from motoavi (same unit as you)
basically, everything were fine, just the front door speaker were both not working. is there any setting can be done in the motonavi HU? i'm pretty sure i got the 8 speaker and it is power up by the JBL amp underneath the driver seat.

any idea to solve this problem? please help....
