No, it's a LCD LED set, 55". and being a "Professional" Broadcast Engineer I took a look at the SMPTE viewing standard RP66-1995,
    "THE IMPORTANCE OF VIEWING ENVIRONMENT
CONDITIONS IN A REFERENCE DISPLAY SYSTEM"

If you have not read this, I can email it to you, I have found that at home as well as at work, this is actually works! I have participated in several rebuilds of Hi Def Screening Rooms, we do, after all, look at the stuff we send out on the Network for the home users (you) to look at!
Simply put, if you own a Flatscreen, no matter what size, you should back light the wall the Flatscreen is mounted on with a 56K Fluorescent bulb! 56K is the correct Color Temp for a HDTV screen color temp and by adding the back light, your eyes will perceive better blacks, and a better viewing experience. This is due to the reduction in eye fatigue caused by viewing a HDTV in a really dark room!
I will admit, when I first heard this, I kinda Poo Poo'ed the idea!
    Dopey me!
After viewing it for a week, I am truly convinced, everyone needs to follow this method. My wife, of all people, who is also a TV Engineer/ Editor, at first complained that it was garbage, the next night she was scrimming the excess light herself, and proudly showed me what she had done, your spot on, I replied.
If she can understand it, anyone can! Best part is, it cost $11.00! I will give you the URLS to purchase the fixture, $5.95, and lamp. 13 watts $3.99! It does make a huge difference in the HDTV viewing experience!

If the DVR has macrovision, then even analog wont work.

Yesterday I took a 3D video of my nephew that I see once a year. At one point he rocked back and forth from the camera. When my family viewed it on our 3D TV, he looked like he was coming out of the TV. I was ROFLMAO

You can get a really cool, 60 GHz wireless HDMI transmitter/received at Costco for about $160. It's made by Vizio. It rocks. The good news about 60 GHz is that the bandwidth is so high that the signal is uncompressed, and the frequency is interference-free. The bad news is that the frequency is interference- free because it's range is limited to a room... but it works flawlessly in that room.

That's true. LCD's have refresh issues. To perform in 3D, the panel must draw the full image, hold it for between 1/48 and 1/120 of a second, then completely redraw every pixel and hold for 1/48 to 1/120 of a second. If there are frame- to- frame artifacts, the 3D image gets shadows from the other eye's frame, which are easy to see if you use the glasses and watch with one eye closed.

Bottom line: 3D sets have to have the best pixel refresh time in order to work. Test the TV with a PS/3 and a 3D game demo, which drives the panel at 120 fps. Close one eye and look for shadow artifacts around objects. It's a great way to evaluate a set's performance. A set with a fast pixel response time will not suffer from smearing during fast motion scenes. This is why you'll usually see that 3D TV's are also excellent in 2D as well.

Ghosting happens when the images from the other eye bleeds into the frame. For active shutter 3D, it's caused by incorrect timing of the frame relative to the glasses shutter turning off and on. For passive 3D it's caused by the TV's polarization not aligned to the glasses. This could happen if the viewer is viewing the 3D TV from the wrong angle.

No. If an LCD panel can't refresh it's pixels fast enough, ghosting will occur. The timing is pretty tight, especially at 120 fps -- the screen has to refresh and stabilize while both left and right shutters are closed.

Getting a 60GHz signal to go anywhere more than a room means a very very high power transmitter!

And the end result is left image is seen by the right eye and vice versa.

I went and saw the adventure of tintin last night in 3D. After an hour of watching the movie, my eyes started to hurt. I had to watch the rest of the movie with the glasses off and on.
I saw a few interesting previews in 3D. They're rereleasing Titanic in 3D April 2012 and Star Wars Ep1 in 3D. New movies are Men in Black in 3D and The Hobbit in 3D. The only one I will probably see is MIB 3D. The idea of Titanic 3D is good but 3.25 hours of 3D will blind me.
