If this car is still under warranty, and you since you seem not really familiar with the operation of a VOM, take the car to the dealer. Oh, the excuse that "They could not find your second FOB when they sold you the car, so you do not get one, is simply PATHETIC! You get 2 Fobs when you buy a NEW CAR!...the fact they seem to have lost one is irrelevant! They should order you a replacement FOB, and do the proper programming, FOR FREE!
Well, after they fix the electrical problems in the car!

I have a little knowledge of electronics, being a Heathkit builder at a very early age LOL. So I definitely know how to check a voltage.
I checked the voltage from the plate in the fuse box. I really should have gone directly to the battery, but I've just been too disgusted by this whole problem.
I followed the directions in the manual, and gave it a boost. The car started. Clock is re-set to 1 am.
I plan to call the dealer early tomorrow morning.
    Thanks.

I assure you I know how to use a VOM, having one (analog) since the age of 9, when I won the science fair (1963) with a solar powered radio I built.
The car was not new. It was their "fleet" car. So it had only one fob, and no tourneau cover.

So the 12v battery is toast, get an Optima, even if the dealer put's another OEM in the car, but,
And by the way, a "damaged" wiring harness was already replaced, due to the touch handle not working.
Is a definite red flag, methinks you have a wire shorted, something's draining a very easy to drain battery.
If the dealer is really a no go for the second FOB open a depute with Toyota, make some noise, and go to another dealer, they may have an electrically competent repair person, or more likely service manager.

Oh, I'm a lawyer, I gurarantee I will not let it go easily ;-)
As I stated in my first post, when the car is parked for a long period, e.g. over night, when the handle is touched, there is no "beep," the car is already not locked, and nothing lights on the dashboard. This time, I parked the car in my garage about 2 pm Friday, and didn't try to start it again until 7:30 am Monday. I don't know that much about cars, but I know electronics. I'm certain that, as you say, something is causing the problem, and I'm guessing computer, or perhaps there is an intermittent somewhere.
As to going to another dealer, easier said than done. This dealer owns almost all the auto dealers on Long Island!

Good Luck!!! Maybe borrow the portable jumper pack or pick one up so as not to get stranded until this is all fixed?

I gurantee I will be traveling with jumper cables!
By the way, I am visiting for the first time your beautiful island in January, and am staying at the Disney Aulani. I'm really looking forward to it.

It's a beautiful island!! I was just there last month, and met up with dustoff for a nice dinner. If you have time, and want to snorkel, I have to recommend Hanauma (sp?) Bay over near Waikiki. If you had more time, and wanted books on stuff to do, I would have offered to mail you the one I got before I went.

Also, if you really want a tonneau cover, I could sell you mine. It was always in the way for me, so I just took it out and put it in the garage. My windows are tinted, so you it keeps everything covered pretty well that way :)

And don't forget this potential suspect:
It doesn't need to actually fail in order to cause significant problems.

Yes, I have Hanauma Bay on my list! Thanks. There's also another good one for snorkeling, I forgot the real name, but it's near the generators, so they call it "Electric Beach."
Actually, I bought a tonneau cover on ebay right after I got the car.

To me, if it has caused a problem, it's failed!
My battery kept going dead on my Mercury Grand Marquis. I finally figured it must be the alarm--which still worked. After I pulled the wires from the fuse box, I had no more problems with the battery.

I am going to Aulani tomorrow or later today for you all in the EST zone, for my wife's company holiday party.

You got the spelling right. Yep it was good to meet you all and to have dinner. I missed being able to get together with spiderman and RaeVynn when they visited. It was cool to meet a fellow PC'er and friends.

I don't know the real name for that beach either but E-beach, Electric Beach or Tracks will get you there. It is directly across from the Kahe Power Plant.

Check out this thread from wick1ert there is some good information and links to some other Hawaiian threads.

I'm adding that snorkeling web site to the others in my Favorites list! Only problem with Electric Beach is that I heard it's in a "bad" area.
But back to topic: my car started this morning. So at least the battery is holding a charge!
I'm now going to call for an appointment at the dealer.
    Thanks again!

I believe "The Toilet Bowl" is very close to Hanaume Bay, within walking distance. I will not spoil the surprise, do check it out and jump in! Any of the natives are familer with it. :D

I'm only a lawyer, not an engineer. But as a long time follower of our space program, unfortunately we see what one failure can do.
