Replaced Crumpled 2008 Prius with 2011!

    After my 2008 Prius met with its demise, I've searched without success for a replacement pre-owned Prius. I scoured all the Toyota dealerships' websites almost daily. Each time I found a used Prius, I saddled up and went to check it out. Several times I found it already sold or else it just wasn't in the condition that I was looking for.

    So today, I finally gave in to temptation and purchased a new 2011 Prius Three with Navigation Package. It was there, it was tempting me. I couldn't resist. It followed me home...

    Nothing like having to educate the salesman on the features of the vehicle.

    Nice, congrats!

    We have a few of those with the hybrid stickers for carpool lanes and everybody thinks they're transferring the expired stickers onto the new 2010/2011 when in fact the DMV allows this if your HOV-stickered Prius is declared a total loss.

    Yes, I know. I'm just throwing that out as the OP has a new Prius that replaced his totaled Gen II.

    I'm in GA, not CA. Georgia doesn't allow hybrids in the HOV lanes. In addition, rather than special stickers that mess up the paint, Georgia has a special license plate for Alternative Fuel vehicles that allows them access to the HOV lanes.

    Pics coming in the morning... night shots in the rain don't work well.

    Got out and shot a few photos of my new mode of transportation. The white color (I know, Blizzard Pearl) looks good when parked next to my white Lincoln Navigator. Sort of both ends of the mpg extreme.

    J5A, actually the shot was taken by my backseat passenger at that time. I actually bought if from Mall of Georgia Toyota. My last one came from Heyward Allen Toyota in Athens, GA. I had went back to them but was very disappointed by their inventory and they didn't seem really motivated.

    Mall of Georgia Toyota on the other hand, had a lot of Prius to choose from and went as far as to search state inventories. They promised me that if I didn't like the ones that they had on the lot, they could have one from another Toyota dealership there the next day. I really liked the way went the extra mile.

    We didn't finish the paperwork until after 10 PM but no one complained. They filled it up with gas without me having to ask and since it had been raining they had someone pull it up under the roof and dry it off. Blizzard Pearl wasn't my first choice for color but it grew on me. I really liked the Barcelona Red that I had in the 2008. However, my Lincoln Navigator is white and I really like how clean it looks. So, I opted to go ahead with the Blizzard Pearl one.

    Another big plus? Team Mall of Georgia Toyota gives you a FREE loaner car when your car is in the shop! No grief, no renting it... They simply hand you the keys to one of the Camrys outside. Now you are a rolling advertisement for them while you drive it but again, it's free.

    I really wish they'd let you put down non-refundable earnest money to complete the paperwork the next day - I bought my 2011 Prius last Friday as well as a 2010 RAV4, and we had to do ALL of the paperwork that evening - we were there until midnight, and my sales rep got in an accident on the way down to work the next morning!

    When I asked why I couldn't hold one, I was told that someone had complained of discrimination in the past, and they didn't want to give that impression.

    Anyway, congrats, nice car (obviously), I'm loving my new Blue Ribbon Metallic (which is a LOT deeper and nicer blue than the brochure makes it appear).

    I'll admit that blue looks sharp. I really had to look hard at one of those but it had the solar roof and that just isn't really an option I want to pay for... I'd have taken it for free if they'd offered but that wasn't in the cards.
