I am about to install a multi media head unit and a car pc ( carputer) in my 2011 prius.
Was hopeing some one has the wiring layout or schametic for the toyota radio harness plugs on a 2011 base model.
I know I can subscribe some place and get access to all the e-manuals but I am not intrested in that.

Just if some one upgraded there stock radio and have some sort of wiring schematic laying around.. :)

I would encourage you to use spell check  That said, you just buy the Scosche TA02B adapter at any Best Buy etc. It keeps you from hacking into the existing wires. It also has the pin-out for all the wires (power, ground, left front etc.....
    Connections:

    • Yellow – 12V Constant
    • Red – 12V Accessory
    • Black - Ground
    • Blue - Power Antenna
    • Orange – Dash Light Dimmer/Illumination
    • Green – Left Rear Speaker (+)
    • Green with Black Stripe Left Rear Speaker (-)
    • White – Left Front Speaker (+)
    • White with Black Stripe – Left Front Speaker (-)
    • Purple – Right Rear Speaker (+)
    • Purple with Black Stripe – Right Rear Speaker (-)
    • Gray – Right Front Speaker (+)
    • Gray with Black Stripe – Right Front Speaker (-)

wow, that is gr8 stuff. exactly what i was looking for... thanks frodoz..
I want to make sure the head unit can wake the car PC.
I am guessing I can use the wire thats turns on the amplifier to turn on the computer.
what color wire is that, is it the 12V ACC or is it the power ANT wire?

the head unit i ordered says it has
    Support for steering wheel control.
so I should not need to buy any additional adapter. anyone had the same setup for there head unit upgrade?

12V ACC is power for most HUs. Don't mess with the antenna amp. You need to be more specific about your equipment before anyone can further assist. As stated before, wire colors (given at end of link) and pin assignment may different on the 2011 Base system. This WD is for 2010 Base and was to clarify why only 4 speaker are referenced on rrolff's post.

Support is a relative thing - you'll need to get with the company that 'supports' the steering controls...

Are you running one of those Chinese things with ARM9 and WinCE? I had one a while back, and once steering was hooked up, you just press a button on the steering to 'map' it to a given function on the HU (totally programmable)...

yes, its one of chinese all-in-one wonder box.:)
    running Win CE 6.0
how did you hook up you steering inputs into the HU.

On ebay there were bunch of pictures of the front but no picture of the wire harness or the back of the unit, so I have no idea if the prius steering control connector will just plug into the back or I will have to do some minor wiring to get it to hook up.

Its New Year in china and most of thouse sellers are not responding scince they are shut down.

Don't expect them to respond much after New Years either  Hopefully there's a good forum to exchange info with.

These things basically are two separate boxes in one. The Stereo side (running a non-standard OS, and typically not updateable without shipping back to the MFG), and the WinCE/GPS side.

These boxes can be found on Ebay for around $250

I understand what you mean, i am getting too ahead of myself.

Upgrading a non JBL Head unit on a base 2011 II.

    I have ordered the following:

    1. a double din Chinese Headunit
    2. Metra double din kit
    3. Metra prius wire connecters
    4. A nettop to use as a car pc
    5. Sony CDD reverse camera

I am now laying out the setup and getting feed back from the gurus on this forum who have already done amazing things to their cars.

Still need to get the following:
    1. Touchschreen overlay for the HU so i can use the car pc with touch.
    2. WIFI N or a 4G usb adapter.
    3. Good quality webcam that works in low light(Skypeing in the car).
    4. wireless min keyboard.
    5. LCD monitors in the headrest for the kids in the back.
    6. SPDT switches to make rear view cam work at any time.
    7. powered usb hub in the glove box.

    :D

Alfa737: rrolf and me, as few others, were pioneers to deploy chinese HU into Prius non-JBL. We used the Toyota universal (or for RAV4) wiring harness between HU and car. Some wires had to be routed out of OEM connector as they are not present in factory harness for audio (brake wire, reverse) and for EU version the antenna connector. The steering control was straighforward - 4 wires harness - direct plug.

I read this forum and many others, but I am unclear to what your pdf applies to. I have a 2012 Prius 3 with the navigation system with Entune and I was wondering what color is the ACC cable? I need to tap into it for an aftermarket amp I am installing. I have been getting conflicting answers, but I am not sure what year the diagrams applies to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The discussion is about 2010 model year. The 2012 ones had a different audio setup. I didn't notice the 2012's free repair manual and wiring chart. The PiP (IMHO quite close to 2012 version) has ACC at pin No. 3, grey wire on the L34 connector.

The other option is to go to techinfo Toyota site and download the wiring diagram for your VIN.
