The LED flashers will also flash the original incandescent bulbs. Pull out all the LED bulbs and replace them with OEM bulbs and see if it remedy the problem.

I believe that the faster flashing is also illegal. So you are going from one illegal condition to another. Obviously, flashing fast is safer than not flashing if those are your only two choices.

Silly question but how well does the replacement 7443 socket fit the car opening? When I installed the web electronic DRL I messed up and had to order replacement socket from Flea bay. I do not think the socket I bought fits very well and am looking for replacement. Also thanks for the tip on where to tap power.

Well, if you use the socket I used, you have to machine it a little to get it to fit. Reread my OP. Mine fits like a charm! Don't forget it's a 3 wire socket!
If you find a socket that requries NO milling or machining to fit PLEASE let me know!
    Thanks!

sorry I was going to order the 7440 version. My fleabay purchase continues to get worse and worse. Finally went to check the bulb and lo and behold the bulb was no longer in the socket. Where pray tell you might ask it went? The bulb is now floating around the turn signal "shelf". Darn bulb ejected from the socket. How much danger do you thing there would be if I left the bulb loose for now and simply replace it?

SAE recommend 60-120 flashes/minute with an ideal of 90. I believe only a few states have a rate specified in their vehicle code.

Do not fret too much about it. I DID THE SAME THING!!!
It was actually quite easy to retrieve. I took a piece of small guage stiff wire. Slight hook at the end of it and GENTLY pull the bulb it towards the opening. Now you need a pair of thin needle nose pliers waiting at the opening and when you can, grab the bulb by the tail, gently pull out of the housing!
I did it, you can too. I also reamed the hole a bit to give a little extra clearance for the next attempt! You just have to have a steady hand, a little patience, and a beer won't hurt at all!
    Good luck! :D

Update: one or both of my LED's shorted out after a week and started blowing fuses. I simply replaced the switchback bulbs with amber 7443's and all is good. Of course this meant I cold use the stock flasher again. To be honest, I think the stock amber bulb is more noticeable in direct sunlight.

So in summary I could have saved $70 and just used the incandescent bulbs from the start

I am glad I stayed with the stock bulb. Looks like the LED bulbs' quality is kind of hit or miss.

You getting power when the signal is on?

Double chk the connection ur using for the DRL power. If it flashes when the signal is on, its not the gnd, its the pos lead.

Oh, that makes more sense. If u have a wire tester, I would check to make sure the purple wire is getting power. If it is, how did u tap in? Cut & splice, tap connection etc. Make sure its tap in correct. If not the purple wire, there should be 3 more wires u can try. I just don't remember what color. U would have to test them till u find the right 1.

    Hope this helps

Boys, Boys, as the OP for this system, and having gotten a email mentioning no power, I first have to ask did you follow my assembly instructions, to the letter, or did you make substitutions, changes etc.
Mine has been running PERFECTLY since the day I installed it. NO LED's burned out, NO short circuits to blow fuses, and NO complaints, only compliments on the mod.
So at what stage in the project are you at, fill me in, and I can help you. I did after all I did invent this nice little mod!

I am assuming that you read my OP and in my fuse box...

The block that I pulled up has no ACC fuses in it, just a source of +12 volts in my Gen II v5. Use your meter to find out which block and pin has +12 on it when the car is in the ready mode. That pic is incorrect with the ACC note, you want voltage when the car is in the ready mode, not ACC mode. Try measuring the purple wire with the car in the ready state. it should be hot with +12. You want these DRL's on when you are driving, not on when parked listening to tunes! HOWEVER, onward.
First off, have you tried touching your DRL White LED wire to the red terminal in the fuse box that has +12 on it. I just went out in the dark to verify that the terminal, under the red cap is +12volts hot ALL THE TIME!
So that makes it a good test point.
If your ground hook up is correct the wire that you were planning on hooking up to the purple wire, if you touch that to the +12 terminal in the fuse box, the White LED's should light up,if your grounds are good. Also make sure you have the polarity of the LED correct. That was the first test I did to verify my harness was OK. You did make a interface harness like I did, right?
If at this point you do have white light from the switchback bulbs, now turn the car on and with the lead still connected to the +12, turn on the turn signal, either L or R do both, you should see the LED alternate between Orange and White!
We all good up to this point?

I'm probably the only one with bad luck with these bulbs. Another white LED bit the dust. This is the third bulb where the white LED won't light up and instead amber LED.

I can not believe your bad luck! Every time I see a post about bulb failure, I recheck mine. They are still going strong! I only drive about 25 miles a day, but the on/off cycles are still there. Have you contacted Autoillumination about the defective bulbs?
I wish you better luck! :D

    Hello
I just want to thank you for the posting. I failed on my LED signally attempt. However I like your approach and creativity. My questions and concerns are on the front signals and wiring diagram for the sockets to vehicle connections. I am assume the red lead hot tap wire into fuse box is shared by both modified sockets and other is ground but where? Also does your dash indicators work correctly when you drive and signal and how do you go to day run light ON???
