Apparently not...the nav systems voice recognition is junk, may as well get used to pulling over to use it.

If it works for anyone here, please tell me how you do it.

Mine works in my 2006 Gen II. With the Gen II, often the microphone gain settings were too low and needed to be adjusted. This may be true with the v as well.

My Nav voice recognition system works OK, even with my southern drawl :) There are some particular words that she has trouble recognizing like my wife's name Lynne. Most of the basic commands like Go Home, Destination, etc. seems to work well.

Gave up on voice commands a long time ago mainly because the system is so clunky.

The basic commands as you said JD are fine, destination, cancel etc...the system just won't recognize anything I throw at it when it comes to the most basic complete address.

It's my bad really, if I would have done a bit more homework in a number of areas on this vehicle I would have saved a bunch more money...but as usual I rushed into it and it cost me.

With you there is the phrasing as well as the accent: "I am standing here beside myself..."

Have you tried to walk through it in steps? Like say "Change Street" and then go through the address that way? It should be more accurate that way as there's less information to process.

I have no problems with voice commands on the 2011. The 2012 Prius V is hopeless. It doesn't understand any address I enter via voice. It spits something out before I can finish.

I spent some time with mine last week....and after a bit of practice, got it to work properly. It's pretty impressive when it does.

I've tried speaking English well, and it still doesn't work. Bad English usually comes next.

I refer to the voice navigation as "time to swear at the car". It works half-decently when finding music on a USB drive, but for navigation, it's garbage.

What's especially frustrating is that after 5 minutes of trying to get the car to understand "Main street", I pull out my phone and it finds the exact location I want (via voice command) in 2 seconds.

I realize that the car doesn't call out to the internet for help or anything like my phone does, but that's no excuse for having a fundamental system broken.
