Navigation tool and software

    This is all new to me so bear with me. I ordered a Prius PiP and interested in finding out several things about the GPS/nav tool:

    - what is the current version I should expect in my order which i will be receiving sometime in March/April 2012?

    - What is the cost for updates?

    - How often are updates introduced? Quarterly?

    I have a garmin and love it. Not sure how this system will work. Any suggestions where I can find use of this tool?

    If you're talking about the Navigation updates, I believe they are around $170-200 for the DVD. I'm not positive, but I was under the impression the HDD nav updates cost a bit more ($250?). I think the current DVD version is 11.1 for the Gen6 navigation system, which I think is the current one.

    As far as update frequency, I believe its annual. But the actual updates are usually published.. so before paying for an update, you should probably find out what was actually updated (POIs, which areas, etc).

    Here's an example from Lexus.. I couldnt find a comparable Toyota site. You cant really go by the Lexus updates either because the navigation system generations aren't the same, if I recall correctly

    Ms Prius from NC but lived in CA for 25 years. Do miss CA!
