You also have to remember some people already have enough tax credits at tax time and can not use the tax credit, thus 0 tax credit at tax time.

Sounds like the local Chevy dealer who wanted to charge me a $4,000 dealer fee for a $42000 Volt last year. No dealership fee from the Toyota dealer I purchased my PiP from and the $500 I put down is put toward the purchase of the car when it arrives. Just DMV and sales tax was added which on $32000 is wee bit less than $46000. Their loss not mine.

I guess for me it's "just a Prius," with a little bit of plug-in range. And Prii are pretty thick on the ground here in the San Francisco area.

Don't get me wrong - I'm tickled at the prospect of driving off my solar panels. But that's maybe 20% of the difference for me, even though it's the feature that tipped me over into making the change to Prius.

Also helping to dampen the excitement are the lack of color and option choices, the overpriced Advanced package with lots of stuff I didn't want and am overpaying for, the compromises Toyota made to keep the HMPG up there, and the thought of paying subscription fees after three years, again including a bunch of stuff I don't want to get the few features I do.

I still want the car, but it's enough of a mixed deal that I'm not giggling over it.

No, what'll change my mind will be climbing in for a two mile drive to the store and not burning any gas.

Another thing - it's not like it'll be so distinctive looking that everyone will know. The badging is subtle. Maybe I'll just let the cord drag.

...there is quite a bit of excitement about Prius C, v, PiP, hCAMRY and Leaf, Volt, and so on. Many new choices. Perhaps this spreads out the interest. Guess what we need to know is PC website user stats - we're bogging it down now right?
