What's the purpose of the 2 little windows in front of the side mirrors?

Without them, rain and snow would come in through the holes.

The OP posted in the wrong sub-forum.

The windows aren't useless for some.....myself included.
Of course.....I actually kinda like anything that gives me more viability, and given the diminutive dimensions of the G3, and the fact that they had to make the A-pillar so big, the folks over at the Aichi Iron Works did what they could with what they had to work with.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion though.

    Enjoy your G3.

I think window tinters made Toyota incorporate them so it was 2 more pieces of glass to tint!

They, along with the bits of glass aft of the doors,
    are bookends,
highlighting both (A great little car and a great big idea).

I remember the first time I drove a Prius, it was a coworkers 2007 Prius and I distinctly remember using that window and thinking how useful it was. I think it removed a blind spot beyond the driver's side mirror. Also helpful in parking so you can see the side/front of the car.

Ski.dive, I'd recommend covering up the two windows with some cardboard or dark cloth or some such thing and drive that way for awhile (days/weeks) and then remove them. I suspect you'll quickly see what utility (if any) they have.

...the only rattle in my 2006 comes from the little plastic panel dash board piece created by the cut-out for those windows. Well, maybe few new rattles by now...

They can be used for many things. On the driver's side, you can put a transponder there for automated gates and it's out of the way rather than on the windshield. I've seen people use that side window for gooseneck suction cups for nav and phone holders as it's closer than mounting it on the windshield. The passenger side is good for gauging the curb (moreso on the Gen 3 as it's larger than the Gen 2's windows).

The trim on my two "little window" alcoves, has a small sheet of clear plastic across the inner front corner. Anyone have any idea if it has a purpose?

At least those two little windows have their own defroster vents.

And that's attention to detail! Toyota could've easily save on cost there.

No idea. I don't recall any clear plastic on mine.
