Received my first email in a while from Toyota today, stating that my Prius "has been built" and "is on its way". Interesting, since I knew that from My Order page on Feb 10 & 15, respectively. Kudos to them for the effort, but I'm glad to have the website.

    It's really hit and miss.
I do notice that blue cars are rarer.

Rarer, in that fewer people ordered them, or rarer in that Toyota has made fewer of them so far?

I confirmed at 9:09 AM on 11/17, and am 7th on the spreadsheet, if you order it by confirmation date/time. Although I received an email from Toyota saying it will be built in February, my order still has no "built" date on the website. It is a basic model, no options, not white. My dealer (Dianne) says it should arrive around 3/22 to 4/9. So, it appears that they are not being built, first-come, first served, after all. :(

Karen, in some of the cases ... I have a feeling it was more about certain colors. Erica said here and keep stating that there were production limitations for each color and per state.

Your own car is slated to be built on 2/29 according to my screens. It won't be long now!

Check out the spreadsheet in the sticky section (top) of this forum. Many of us posted our details there.

The order number isn't important. They order them based on the time when you confirmed your dealer's offer. In my case, my dealer took over five hours to send me an offer, so my car will be built "Sometime in February or March."

It is time for some STRAIGHT TALK from the people who know what is going on with production of these cars.

I can't tell what IS important. California seems to be getting most of the early cars but Karen was early with both her order number (204) AND her confirmation time. And hers was not a complicated order. At least she has an estimated production date, now. I was just behind her and do not.

Maybe nothing is important and the whole thing is "catch as catch can". If that is the way it is, it would be a whole lot better if we were told that up front instead of being led to believe that we could affect the outcome by following the rules which were set out for us. This teasing us feels more like tormenting than creating anticipation.

Based on the information I read at the prius plug-in hybrid FAQ prior to placing my order, I was under the impression that there was no way to guarantee the schedule of when a specific car will be built since it depends on many factors beyond what time the order was confirmed:

Hmm I'm normally defending the EREV subset when others are arguing its IS a hybrid and not an EREV. Formally the Volt is classified as EREV is a PHEV is a Hybrid (and is a EV).

Now wether the Volt is main-stream or not is a different question :)
The Prius PHV, building on the Prius Family, clearly is part of a mainstream line.

Congrats to all those getting their cars soon. After a long wait I'm sure the anticipation is hard to manage. But soon you;ll be enjoying EV serenity.

I wouldn't get too upset with things just yet. I think the notification system lags a bit behind reality for some. For me I have always gotten the notifications after the event happens, sometimes by a week. Originally I was told that mine would be built Feb 6, but was actually built Feb 2. Currently mine says it's on its way to the port (Japan port? US port? who knows?). I never got the email yet that says its on a ship, but i reached out to the dealer and he confirmed it's on New Century 2 scheduled to arrive in Benicia on Feb 22. I now know my vehicles VIN, but that doesn't get it here any faster. :) Just be patient and I think things will happen faster than it seems they are taking. Probably doesn't hurt to reach out to the dealer to see what info they have as it seems they have more detail than we can get from our status page and emails...

I've also noticed the official emails are about 7-15 days behind the website dates.

You have no way of knowing what COMPLICATED is for this car. Or, uncomplicated.
    Even I don't.
We have no way to determine how the cars were spread thn or thick depending on color, time, confirmation, or simply a matter of build constraints for exterior color or interior parts.

I know you're all excited, and I am too! Seeing the photos Erica posted shot right to the heart for me. I could see a tangible car and the wheels and the bumper and headlamps.. and the gleam of the car's hood in the lights.

Don't let your lack of information (because really, no one can know everything) kill your joy at having one of these rare cars.

Thank you for your thoughts. You may recall our exchanges back just before the order, remember the 5000 cars? Well, I took you seriously that it was important to get the order done quickly. So I got my dealer to give me undivided attention for a few minutes after 9:00 a.m. on 11/17. He has not forgotten that and reminds me of how demanding I have been. I wouldn't have needed to put him to that trouble if I had known that it didn't matter after all.

You obviously have your act together. I wish you were not so far away from Spokane.

I can tell you two things:

NO ONE who finalized their car after 11/17 is on my sheet for a car between now and middle April. Even those who ordered on 11/17 and "finalized" 11/18 at 1am, no one's got a car coming who didn't "finish" by midnight on 11/17.

The time range for arrivals is somewhere between late Feb and into early March right now. The order #'s are all over the road for me, and so are the packages and colors.

They are doing the best they can to vary the product coming out of the pipeline to all the states and buyers. I'm glad to see it. It would suck for the "blue advanced car" buyers to be last and watch the "white base model" cars all start coming first. I think the fairness is evident right now with the sheer variety and cross sectioning of cars coming. I learned many moons ago: you cannot make everyone happy.

The hardest part of all this is actually all the information available. Reading in these posts about cars in production, enroute, etc just gets ya more excited....can't wait for that Clearwater Blue Advanced Dianne!!!
