Like the title says, weird sound after sitting in the car in off position around 15 min. or so. The first time this happen I jump out to see if a bird landed on the roof of the car, but no bird. Anyways, It has done this everytime I sit in my vehicle with it off. Anyone know what is causing this sound or what it is? Thanks!

Are you talking about the brakes releasing the pressure?

Not really sure, is that the sound it makes after the pressure is released. Sounds like it's coming from the roof to me, almost metal like.

It gets worse. About 5 hours after being shut off, you'll get some continuous rain of frogs on your windshield (sans the mess though).

What, pray tell, does a bird landing on the roof sound like? :)

You really need to call in to the "Car Talk" radio show. Seriously.

That depends on if it's a crash or controlled landing. :D

32kcolors, nice plague reference...only gets worse from here on out.

    I'm going with "Moth Man".

No but seriously...your roof is a big piece of metal. It could be anything from heat and cold induced expansion and extraction...to actually something physically hitting your roof. The sound can be amplified.

If it's just a one time sound that happens...and you are not witnessing any physical damage to your roof? Then I wouldn't worry about it.

Okay, on a more serious note, there is a bunch of normal noises that the Prius make, including de-pressurizing, coolant pumping, and a pump performing a fuel evaporation leakage check (~5 hours after the engine is turned off). The locations of these noises can be deceiving.
