Walmart is selling the Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0W20 for $20.57 per 5 qt jug. Currently, Quaker State has a promotion where you can get a $20 rebate for every 5 quarts you purchase.

No, it is not the ultra-high Viscosity Index Toyota 0w20, but this oil is perfectly acceptable for our cars. This oil meets all warranty requirements. And since it is nearly free, why not?

Tempting. I wonder what the oil experts at Bob's place think. Perhaps good enough with a 7500 mile oil change interval until analysis says go further ?

I see no reason why it cannot last the 10k specified by Toyota. It is a full-synthetic oil that has no indications that it was not designed for normal service intervals.

PS-- There are no oil experts at Bob's. Just a bunch of people blowing smoke. ;)

It's specs are NOWHERE near the superb Toyota 0W20 synthetic oil.
Yeah, it's a 0W20 but that's about it. You bought a couple of cases of Toyota's 0W20, why would you consider a product thats really inferior in specs and performance ?

And....there are about 10-12 people who are VERY, VERY knowledgeable on BITOG. Quite a few of the other 34,000
do in fact "blow smoke" ! The very best threads and info and those from years past. Most of the current ones are worthless when it comes to meaningful info.

Please post the specs for both of them. Also the test results that show it has inferior performance.

In other words you don't have anything to back up your claims.

Uh ... the test results that back up your assertion that Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0W20 has 'inferior performance' .... THOSE test results.

It sounds like somebody on the Prius forum is now 'blowing smoke' from where the sun don't shine ....

I'm not saying the specs aren't slightly different ... I'm saying that it won't matter, and that in no way could it be considered to have 'inferior performance'.

Learn a LOT MORE about oil and do some homework, then you might be qualified to make worthwhile comments instead of worthless mouthology !!! Talk about blowing smoke !!!!

Have you even bothered to READ some of the threads about oil on here? Didn't think so !!

I make no claims. i just state facts which many are too ignorant and too damn lazy to learn. Are you looking in a mirror ?

You are the one that made the absolute statements without backing them up. You got called on you puffery and don't have anything except more puffery to back it up.

Exactly ... when puffery fails ... and it has ... attempt to denigrate the doubters .... we still haven't heard or seen one shred of proof that there's a damn thing wrong with that oil, except for some minor spec differences that may not even be that critical for an engine like the Prius has.

The seems to be a contentious topic in an area where I have no expertise and no dog in the fight. Does anyone know if this oil meets the manufacturers (Toyota) specifications for the Gen 3 Prius.

Of course it does ... it's 0-20 Synthetic from a well respected manufacturer.

Any talk about 'inferior performance' is simply nonsense.

If you have any doubt, just alternate between this and Toyota oil every other change.

The Quaker State rebate form says "5 quarts" and shows a pic of a one quart bottle. Anyone tried the rebate using a receipt for the 5 quart jug rather than 5 individual quarts?

AFAIK most people are buying the 5-qt jug from Walmart, not the individual quarts.

Walmarts in the Inland Empire (Redlands & Colton) of So. California don't have this brand 0w20 oil in either 1 gt or 5 qt sizes. :(
