Should I go ahead and take it as it is or wait for another one?

According to Toyota Canada's website, the top level Technology Package Gen 3 retails for $34,080...with Ontario's outrageous 13% Harmonized Sales Tax tacked on and freight and licensing added, the total purchase price would be $40,391. Add in the optional Blizzard Pearl paint ($295) and some accessories, and you could end up north of $42,000 pretty quickly.

Canadians typically pay more for vehicles regardless of the exchange rates. The gap is narrowing, as we've continually voiced our displeasure with automakers charging us more for the same vehicle...especially since our currency has been at or near par with the US dollar in recent years.

When I bought my 335i coupe in 2007 for example, it sold for here what an M3 was selling for in the US...

Very interesting, CLYFE, and very unfortunate! Is it legal for Canadian residents to buy vehicles in the U.S. and return home with them? I imagine it must be illegal somehow, or else many Canadians who live near a U.S. city would be doing so.

Importing a US car into Canada is a PITA as it has to be modified to Canadian standards. Once the car is modified & imported it is now part of the Gray Market. Toyota has the right to void the warranty. Some have contemplated it but I'm not sure if anyone has done it.

Been debating doing the opposite. early 90's Montero 4x4 was sold in CAN with Right Hand Drive and a 2.6 liter turbo diesel capable of 25mpg while seating 8 and being a real SUV...CA doesn't like it though, they claim that it doesn't meet crash requirements even though the exact same car was sold here just with a 3.0 gas v6 and LHD not to mention airbags on the 92's were nonexistent in any market
