2012 'Stormtrooper' Prius

    After three years of driving a Gen II, I recently picked up the 2012 Blizzard Pearl Prius. Overall, it's such a fantastic car. Just started making some cosmetic modifications:


    Tinted windows: 20% all around, 50% on the windshield.
    Gloss Black Mirrors
    Black Badges
    Removed Hub-Caps


    Upcoming modifcations:
    Vinyl roof Glossy Black
    Install HID's
    Glossy Black Wheel Centercaps


    Just had a chance to snap a few shots tonight and thought I'd share.

    I like the changes they made on the 2012. Now you just need some nice wheels. I just don't like all black wheels since you can't see them & I think they look like cheap steelies. I like the 50% tint on the front windshield too, I have 2 cars with that set up too. :D

    I think the stock black wheels look great - just throw the center caps on and lower the car a bit = perfect.

    IMO, they just have no style to them & just blend in with the tire. To me a wheel should add something to the looks & not be bland. Just my 2c of course. :)

    Nice! My "stormtrooper" story. Back in the day, when seeing another Prius was an event, I was traveling down the Ventura freeway in my black 2004 when lo and behold I found my self escorted by not one by two white Prii. Definitely a star wars moment. My wife just yawned.

    Looks great! Must be the lighting, but making the wheels one solid color hides the smallish 15" alloys so they look great under that lighting. I like how you personalized your car with black mirror covers and emblems.

    I have no personal objections to your front window and windshield tints, but how long do you think it will be before you get written up for it?

    The mirrors were wrapped. It came out pretty well. Even up close, it's absolutely seamless and near impossible to tell they weren't painted.

    The emblems were all painted. Couldn't find any place that sold them black?

    I'd go out on a limb and say it's unlikely. I have the same tinting on my two other cars and it's been three years without any issues or tickets (knock on wood). Generally I've found cops tend to ignore tinting unless it's added on to a moving violation. Any time I'm worried about though, simply rolling down the windows will do the trick.

    I've been driving a Corvette without a front license plate for over 7 years with no problems, same deal I guess. I wish both of us luck.:D
