I'm not except for Super Speedways, like Daytona, Talledega, Indy and Fontana and all the road courses.
However. now that Danica has arrived, it has made it more interesting to watch. It is a very American thing and even Toyota is involved.
    Your thoughts?

Not interested, as your thread title supposed. Bunch of people driving around and around, making lots of noise, and occasionally getting killed. But I'm not interested in spectator sports in general. I like to do stuff, not just watch.

Being from NC and the home to most of the race teams, it is hard not to watch the races. I would not call myself a die-hard fan but I do like to catch the end of the races to see who wins.

I like to watch several races, but on the longer NASCAR events, like Daytona I will DVR it and watch it after it's over. I watch at 2x speed, zip through ads, rewind for great passes. I do the same with drag racing...even though I drag race a lot I don't watch it when I'm there, just think about what I need to do (rarely anything) and watch DVDs! I also watch as much NFL as possible using the same technique, but try to watch the Colts live....even as bad as they were this last season.

Nascar never really appealed to me. I used to be a big racing fan, and would get up at all hours to watch European events live. I liked Formula 1, Can Am, and Le Mans the best. I still watch the occasional motorcycle race, but the thrill is pretty much gone. I no longer watch hockey or football either - maturity's an interesting process. ;)

Not a NASCAR fan. However, I do think politicians should be festooned with stickers naming their sponsors like NASCAR cars and drivers are.

NASCAR suffers from PGA syndrome. BORING participants. That's why the golf ratings go down when Tiger is out or not competing. The rest of the field are robots with the usual sound bites. NASCAR rounded up Danica Patrick this year to stop the ratings and ticket sales blood bath for this year at least as long as she stops running into walls and blaming everyone except herself like she did in Indy car.

Listening to the rain delay interviews yesterday was like a root canal without novacaine. Everyone says the right thing, holds their new baby, rattle off the sponsors and go back in the million dollar RV. Zzzzzzzzzz.

I am a fan of motorsports...

My cousin Kevin raced at Daytona... he placed 17th... on a 500 bike.

I was more of an ET fella on my wheels...

I waited all day yesterday for the Daytona to start... I will watch it tonight.

I'm not what you would call a really big fan.
    To me.....NASCAR is:

    1. Go down to the end of the street.
    2. Take a left.
    3. Repeat as necessary.

It's not as stupid as golf or paintball, but hey....whatever folks want to do to unwind on Sunday afternoon if fine with me.
I am a pretty big fan of the NASCAR license plates, since in this area, they represent a group of drivers that are more despised than Prius drivers will ever be!

I don't really care for the restrictor plate races (which is 480 miles of trying not get caught in "the big one" and 20 miles of racing to the finish). I do like races like the Coca Cola 600 where you go through some major track transitions. Basically, I like the racing part and not the wrecking part. Of course, that doesn't make me a REAL NASCAR fan.......

Well considering that NASCAR is the 3rd fastest motorsport out there, NHRA Top Fuel dragsters can exceed 280 mph in just 660 feet, so that would be #2, I actually enjoy the hell out of it!
Of course, we all know that Championship Air Races are the Fastest motor sport! I was there when the highly modified F8F Bearcat "Rare Bear" took the world record 528.3 mph on a closed course! And this was at about 150 feet off the ground. http://www.rarebear.com/rarebear/about_Rare_Bear/

NASCAR is already on the ground, so that added thrill of "Gravity" is not so much a factor!
But, I still enjoy FOX Sports coverage of NASCAR, on the proper HD Flatscreen and sound system, SWEET!

BTW, restrictor plate races just suck in so many ways!

Not really a fan of NASCAR, people paying good money to watch rich people drive round and round seems kind of silly, most of the ones that I saw, while watching races at Texas Motor Speedway, weren't even watching the races, most were there to talk, drink and buy driver crap at stands outside..

My driver was wrecked on the first lap. I HATE restrictor plate races. Grumble.

A lot of people here are complaining about restrictor plates. How about BT chassis stiffening plates?

I can't believe I'm still up watching this race...
That crash into the jet dryer truck was something.

Juan Pablo Montoya, slams into the Jet Dryer Track Truck, unbelievable! What a fire, amazing no one was badly injured. 22 Laps to go, way cool! What a Daytona 500!

That was the oddest thing I've seen in NASCAR (odder than that crew guy running into the infield after a tire). On a caution lap.....wild! It was really cool to see just how long it took those guys to put out the flames. And they had 5 or 6 hoses working it too! Way more interesting than a 10 car wreck. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
