Hi guys, so excited to get my tailights installed

i followed all the instructions from the video

however, i still have no luck removing the tailights, it seems like something is stuck, when i try shaking the tailights it makes a snappy sound, just wondering if anyone can help me out ?

also, is the black covering beside the tailight suppose to snap off ?

Lastly, i notice a clip on the Valenti's bottom right corner of the left tailight broken, will that have any effect on fitment of the tailight ?

    thanks

hey, yeah, i followed your post, it's much easier, i broke the yellow clip cause i yanked it too hard, do i need to replace that clip ?

i notice it easier when you go behind and just clip the 2 white clips down, easier to remove the rest, the black wing i almost broke it :/ but now i got the passenger side down, i'm gonna be more careful doing the other side

The yellow and retainer clips are essential for proper fit and alignment with no play. The white clips you can ignore. If you broke the black wing, you won't see it unless you have the hatch open. However, you can always order replacement clips and wings from the various Toyota parts websites.

Do you still have the link you had mentioned (or the website) for those clips, 32k? I noticed when I was at the body shop today that they had broken one of my yellow ones, so I best get one heading this way, as I don't foresee them going to the trouble of replacing it.....

I have never ordered replacement clips or retainers, but Calvin (HI MPG) did and he mentioned that the shipping costs were more than replacement clips. You should PM HI MPG or maybe he'll respond here with the link.

Yes, I did order some replacement white clips and the bottom black retainers (not the side wing) as I broke both during the install. I didn't break any of the yellow clips, but I can't imagine them to be any different than the white ones (this is from memory, so I can be wrong about that). I'll see if I can find the parts numbers tonight.

Yes, as long as it's secure when you slide it in, you're fine. If there's no play of the unit, you've installed it right.

I'd also like to know where you got these tinted Valenti's. Very interested in buying them for my Blizzard Pearl! Does anyone know if it's illegal to have tinted tail lights? This will go great with my tinted car. Looking for purchasing information, please! Specifically the tinted ones. Thanks!

We get them through TWP CO. LTD.

Tinted tail lights aren't illegal per se. It's the blacking out of the rear reflectors that make them illegal. Fortunately, the rear reflectors aren't blacked out on the Valenti lights so you'll be fine. They lack the side reflectors though which are required here but cops are unlikely to notice that unless they shine their lights exactly perpendicular to you.

Thank you, 32K. Unfortunately, those are a little too pricey for me. They sure do look good though! Looks like I'll just replace my turn/reverse bulbs with LED's instead. :p

You get what you pay for. Rather than replace turn/reverse bulbs with LEDs, which doesn't do much, get your taillights tinted using film (but leave openings for the reflectors so you don't get in trouble with the cops).

This is what tinted stock tails look like (photoshopped though). I'm a fan of blacked out tails and rims on Blizzard Pearl.

These tailights are super bright, i love them :)

Thanks guys - I'm still thinking about this.. ucsmfu - how would you rate the difficulty of installation? It doesn't seem too hard, but when you say "finally" it makes me wonder a little bit. How long did it take for you to get them? Thanks!

Thanks! I remember seeing the links and info for the different clips for the headlights months back, so good to know u were the one who had found them. Hope maybe u find the link(s) again, since I need a yellow one!

Thanks! For some reason, I had it in my mind that you were the one who had given the links for them before. Thanks for letting me know it was Calvin!

shipping was super fast, took 2-3 days shipped from Taiwan to Vancouver, BC, Canada.

difficulty, hmm depends, for me I found it hard, for other maybe easy ?

hard getting the clips off, and you're bound to break a couple, however, after taking one off first, I was able to do the other side smoothly without breaking off any of the clips.

Overall, it was a good and fun experience, and to be honest, the Valenti's look 10x better than stock.

I would highly recommend the Valenti's to anyone :)

    hope that helps.

I will be posting pics of my whole installing process soon.
