    Okay,

I know it has been asked before in certain ways. However, I have delayed purchasing a Double DIN OEM look unit. I thought I was ready to go with the ADVENT UNIT over the others. It has a 3 years warranty along with RCA Amp outputs for my 4 channel Alpine Amp. It also has dvd output for dual backseat screens along with the ability to purchase iGo Primo GPS software on the units for a $100 fee. I think, I read that it has a better processor than the others with more ram. Is this true? What else am I missing?

For the record, I have the Alpine 17s Component speakers for the front AND Alpine 6 1/2' 2 way speakers for the back. It will also be driven by a 4 channel Alpine 4x100 Amp. My cars are the exact same 2011 Prius II and both will be done exactly the same, (for what it's worth).

Can anyone who has done research on OEM direct fit Double Din units tell me what I may be overlooking as features. I just am having a hard time "pulling the trigger" on this last piece of the puzzle. Or even, if you know a reason you , choose one over another might be helpful.

One person has had a good review on this forum with the Advent Unit, but not many other people have mentioned that they bought it , which makes me nervous.

    Thanks in advance

    David

I fitted a Motonavi unit because it was for the right hand drive gen3 and left hand drive units don't fit properly.

Check the specs on the Ottonavi. I'm not sure if it's as good as the Advent but it's definitely better then older units like the flyaudio/rosen.

The Advent is intended to sell for 2k installed. Doesn't the unit sell for 1,000-1200? I think members of this forum are looking for lower pricing. For the price of the Advent you could buy a Kenwood or Pioneer. Unit won't look as factory but you can get features like traffic.

I was going to buy the Advent unit due to it having a better UI than some of the other units out there. But the Advent cost way too much and went with something else.

Yes, I will look at the Ottonavi units tonight, I was worried because I never heard much about them before and was worried that they might just be the rebadged chinese units, (who knows I am sure they all are to some extent). I also couldn't find if they had RCA Amp out connections like the Advent.

Yes the price is a lot, compared to some really good aftermarket units, however my wife wants to keep both cars as stock looking as possible, so I am trying to go the OEM look route. I checked around and can get them delivered for about $1000 each. Another thing to note, is that we really feel like we need a back up cameras on these cars and to even have it done on the rear view mirror would cost over $1000.

Thanks for the Ottonavi info and I will look into it more.....

I went back and forth over the Advent and Ottonavi unit. I bought the Ottonavi unit this morning after weeks of reading posts from other forum users and the Ottonavi owners seem to enjoy their units more and the install is very simple. I did not order from the website though, I called them directly and told them I found out about their product from these forums and they gave me a discount plus threw in a back up camera at no extra charge. The guy I talked to was super nice and answered all my questions. Unit arrives on Friday and i can not wait! They offered me free shipping but i asked for 2 day so I could install it this weekend and yes i paid for it but thats ok, for the price I am happy to pay it to have the unit by Friday.

It looks like it does, just call them and they can answer any questions you have. I am not running an amp so this was not a problem for me.

Can you disclose how much you paid for the unit? According to their website, the cost is $799. This place is about a 1 hour drive from where I live, so maybe I'll take a drive there to check it out.

I dont want to put it in public forums and create a huge mess if someone paid more than me or even less and end up getting the company in a huge mess. I will be happy to PM you though ;)

Would I be able to capitalize on your research? If a public post is distasteful, then a PM will do.

    Thanks

Sorry, just saw your post tonight... If still interested then PM or let me know on here. I might be able to get a Better deal than that from a reputable authorized reseller. Infact if anyone is looking for an advent group buy, let me know. I will see if the seller would discount more based on how many more would like to purchase. He discounted me more because I am buying two units, so I guess he might drop the price lower on more. Let me know if interested.
