Does anybody know if black wheel center caps exist to go with the 2012 (Prius II) stock black alloys?

I'm also very curious as to whether Toyota, or any other company, makes nice-looking caps. From my research, the dealer puts the plastic hubcaps on. Do these cars get shipped with caps, or are the hubs exposed?

Yes, all Prius (except the Five) are transported with the wheel covers off and dealers are to put them on.

In the past, they always have come out with a wheel center cap to match the alloy. I don't remember ever seeing them make a stock black alloy before this. Anyway, we will see.

I got the chrome center caps through my dealer ($15/). They look better than a hole, make the 15 inch rims look OEM... but don't have much else going for them (especially in the middle of a black rim).

I still like the look better than the hubcaps though, possibly because my roof is also black.

    Can you post a pic?

I keep going back in forth on whether or not to take the covers off and spring for the center caps.

I asked the same thing of someone's chrome center caps on black alloys.

Until they come out with black center caps, why not paint or plastiquik the chrome ones black?

I just followed a thread where you can buy 1 1/2" electrical caps to use for the center caps of the rims. Since the 2012 stock rims are black, I just painted the caps with a glossy black color. Total cost under $10.00 just search the forums for 3 buck alloy wheel center caps and you will see what people are doing. I'll post pictures of mine soon.

Here are the pics of the black caps. I bought the basic rustoleum glossy black spray paint for 3.99. Keep in mind you also have to bend the pins on the caps outwards to get it to secure in the center hole.

I have the same dilemma. I bought the shiny chrome center caps and a dropped them at a friend's body shop so he could paint him next time he was painting something black. They ruined the first set trying to strip the chrome plating off. Then they replaced them and painted black over chrome and it isn't true black and is already chipping off. I read that you could strip the chrome plating off with bleach but I have my doubts.

It'd be easier just to plastiquik the chrome center caps. If Toyota does come out with black center caps, get those and ebay the chrome ones after peeling the plastiquik off.

Yes, but I have a coat of black paint to deal with too.

Has anyone thought about stripping the black paint off the stock alloy rims?

Leave it in a raw aluminum finish - or possibly having them repainted in a titanium finish...

Easier method. Post in Private Sales to find a local member who's willing to do a swap. Plenty of 2012 and 2010/11 owners here who want the other rim as the grass is greener on the other side.

Does any one know if a center cap from Matrix or Corolla approx 62mm size will fit?

62 millimetres is equivalent to 2.44 inches.

Can anyone answer this question? I am also curious. I'd like to know what diameter center cap I need. I am thinking of getting some Lexus center caps but I'm not sure if they would fit or not.

I've installed the electric caps from Lowe's, too. $1 a piece, $1 for the black spray paint, works great so far. You can see the photo of my car on the left. Goes great with the black wheels and tinted windows.
