    Hey all,

I'm in the process of purchasing my first Prius (YAY!) and I'm not sure which one to get.

The 4 has the sunroof and remote A/C, but I live in Seattle so the A/C seems pointless.

Does anyone have thoughts on 4 vs 5? I love the tech features in the 5......

Also, what do you think about the Body Kit from Toyota for $1000? Seems decent for painted plus installed. FYI I am going with a Blizzard Pearl, and tinting the windows dark + blacked out rims.

    Thanks,

    Jon

I always like to get what I want. A couple thousand dollars spread out over 5 or 6 years is like an extra gas fill up a month. Go for the loaded 5...

Oh, and go for Black, Blizzard Pearl is over-rated... LOL

I'm a sucker for the LED headlamps with auto level control, auto-off feature and headlamp cleaners. The 17" wheels/lower profile tires and fog lights helped push me toward the Five. Couldn't see spending almost $5K on the Advanced Tech package though... it is just too pricy for me.

I went with the Five and ATP. If I could have gotten the Performance Plus package on the Barcelona Red I would have done that as well.

I still love the fact that my 2004 (with the then top package #9) still has technology features that are only available in higher-end vehicles.

Of all of the purchases I have made in my life, the Prius has been the most satisfying. The iPad comes in second.

That's what I like about my Five with ATP too, as we tend to keep our cars for 10+ years.

Agree with you on the price. Think it is way too high for what you get and I love technology stuff. The same options can be had and more on Ford, Hyundai and others. Plus, options like blind spot assist, etc.

Minus the fuel economy (except maybe if comparing to the Prius v).

Go for the sun roof, I say. It makes the Prius look better IMO (not like a tin can!), and lightens up the inside.

This is an extra car for us and I just could not justify the cost of the sunroof -- and I have never purchased a car without one. In the end I went with the five w/o AT package to get the wheels and LED's. I feel the Prius has a bit of a blind spot - so the NAV (also overpriced IMO) was needed to get the rear camera.

Mine has the Misty Gray leather interior -- and I have been pleasantly surprised at the level of light in the interior w/o the roof. Never been a fan of the way Toyota does the packages - trim levels.

I've had a 4 with solar package for about a week now and I LOVE it. I haven't driven a 5, so I can't really make a fair comparison. That said, I wouldn't want a 5 because of the lower gas mileage that results from the larger wheels/tires. If you're into tech features, the 4 w// solar pkg gives you a lot of the same goodies like larger HD nav system w/ split screen, led daytime running lights, auto headlights, auto-dimming rear view mirror, heated seats, power adjustable 8-way drivers seat, head-up display. I know the 5 gives you dynamic radar cruise control, but I personally prefer the solar roof with my 4 to that. Ultimately you'll make the decision based on the features and price, but I gotta say: I love my 4.
