    It's a 2012 Prius Three + heated seats + plug-in.

The heated seats are more important in some locations for a PEV to keep the cabin temperature down (which helps reduce the need to run the PiP engine for heat). They are less of a benefit and more of a luxury in the liftback so you can reasonably consider it part of the "plug-in experience".

If you would go for a Three anyway compare it to that. But I'm a Two kind of person, so I'd compare it to a Two.

The #1 perk for me as a LA/OC driver is the HOV sticker. I don't personally care about the mileage - I am happy getting 50+ in my 2011 IV but the raise in fuel economy with PHEV is a small perk in conparison to the HOV lane usage solo.

You Can't Buy Time any other way!

People keep mentioning the Tax rebates. I am not counting on any rebates since I did not qualify for any portion of the $3200 rebate available when I bought my 2006 Prius. TurboTax said my income was too high. So I'm setting my expectations low this time.

Does anyone know if they corrected that for this go-around? I think last time the issue was if you had just $0.01 of AMT you lost the whole credit (we did). But for some reason I thought it was different this time. And the California rebate I don't believe is income dependent. Anyone know the truth on this?

Federal Tax Credits for Plug-in Hybrids Purchased in or after 2010 has this encouraging line in it:
This document has a pointer to a list of qualifying vehicles, which includes the PiP.
