Do you have to pay or is it free for now?

    Andi,

Did your company buy the pre-productions to keep or do you only have them for testing? How many do you have? How long can you keep them?

It should, but the pre-production PiP charger has only a long 10 cm plug, which doesn't fit into the outlet with the little doors closed. The charging point only activates once the little doors are closed. I hope, that production charging plug is L shaped.
I used the 1m extension splitter only for the purpose of activating the charging point.

    Hi!

The whole country of Slovenia only has 1 pre-production PiP. It's owned by the importer.
I got one to test for a week. I'm an active member of Slovenian Electric Vehicle Society and I also presented my self to a dealer as a 4 year Vectrix rider and a knowledgeable person about EVs. I talked to them in the beggining of January and they offered me to test PiP from 1.-7. of March which I gladly accepted.
They told me to drive it as much as I can, so I can give them a feedback, which Toyota still accepts.
    So far the cons:
    - annoying Reverse beep
    - To long plug (10 cm). It doesn't fit into my charging box at my apartment underground garage without having the box doors open or some public charging points (see the picture above).
    - The speedometer lies a lot. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note, which has a superb GPS module, which also finds Russian Glonass satelites and is very accurate. While driving at 100km/h by GPS, the speedometer shows 108km/h.
    The pro:
    - the EV grin  with the combination of a very refined ICE. I took for a test ride my friends. We were 4 of us in the car. They couldn't believe the silence of electric ride. We had to stop for a red light. The road before was empty and speed limit was at 60km/h. I let the ICE warm up before. I turned on the Power Mode and pushed the throttle all the way down, when the green light lit. The acceleration was unbelievable. I think even traction control turned on, because I felt front wheels spinning away. My friends' jaws dropped:D

My service guy at Big Two Toyota in Gilbert, Arizona insisted on charging me $60 to change the beep. This really upset me as the I had to bring the car in for recall programming of the brakes anyway - at my inconvenience.

So I bought a scan gauge II and did it myself. No way was he getting $60 for that task. The scan gauge has saved me money in other ways too, like being able to check why my chevy truck's check engine light was on (it wasn't happy how the gas cap was on), reset it and forget about it without having to bring it somewhere.

I found that continual beep very distracting and dangerous.

The system is ground fault protected. I've used the J1772 for over a year - sometimes charging/unplugging bare foot in the pouring rain ... proving that the safety features are not only fool proof - it's also idiot proof.
    :p
