Thanks, Eroeder. I think I need to do some more research on how to have the unit buttons lit at night and on how to have the steering wheel bluetooth buttons work with the unit. I will also contact tech support as the nav is asking me for an activation code. The HU already have the latest update OTPRI1 102282011 zip file installed.
Once again , thanks for anserwing and for sharing.

I think if you have a certified ADVENT installer help, that should be able to make it all work.
Oh, I had the issue with the activation code too after updating sinc I didn't know it. Not a big deal, just call Tech support. They will give you your specific number and then enter it. After that, keep it in a safe place so if you ever need it again, you already have it on hand.

    Hi Eroeder,
Got the activation code. It worked fine but I have not fixed the buttons' night lighting yet. I will contact my installer. I spoke to audiovox and I am told that my installer is supposedly certified for advent HU installation?????
BTW how does your GPS work? There is a big delay between the sopken directions and and the graphics in mine.
Do you have the XM radio installed? How is the reception?

GPS works like most others i have used. I haven't noticed any large delays. May depend on how much interference there is in the area you live, or how many stats it can pick up. No complaints here.

No XM in Hawaii, so I can't used it. I had SIRIUS in the states and like it. Bummed I don't have it now... :(

Anyone know where I can get this unit installed in CA or northern NV? I called Audiovox and they said I would have to ask my local Toyota dealership? Thanks.

I decided to buy one up from ADC mobile and tried to install it myself. I ran into some issues with the fit and cd player. I uploaded the problems onto youtube so you can see for yourself.

The cd player wont accept a disc and the fit needs to be more into the dash so it lines up with the temperature controls.

Also I found that the backlight is not as bright as the stock light. The lights behind the knobs are bright like the stock lights but the lights behind the buttons are not. Here is a video comparing the difference.

If any of you have ran into these problems and can help me out, thanks in advance. I can also answer any questions you guys may have.

I tried looking for your video and still can't seem to find it. Any link or video title that you can give me would be great. I am days away from possible buying 2 of these Advent units for both of my Prius Cars.

Also, as far as the dvd players goes, not sure about this Advent unit exactly , however most dvd players ship with a pin or screw, that needs to be removed before unit can be used. It is nothing more than a "lock" that makes sure the dvd mechanism doesn't get damaged during transportation. You might want to check if this unit has a shipping lock that needs to be removed. Just a guess mind you....best of luck and please keep me informed.

    Thanks for your new info..

What does this mean "64 MB of SDRAM It uses the older Sirf Star III chipset etc."

There is a very big price difference. This is 1000? Ottonavi is 670? I hear they are receiving new units with upgraded Parrot bluetooth as well...so not sure why is it made so much. [IMG]

In doing my research, (I am almost ready to buy two Advent units), you can currently upgrade to Igo Primo Navigation software for $100 over the current installed software. I also love that it is a solid US company and has a 3 years warranty. I think all others have 1 year at best. It alo has RCA 5 channel pre amp outs for a amp. I can't find anyone else giving me any reason not to get it, other than ottonavi is a little bit cheaper. Unless someone can give me reasons, as of now I still like the Advent units.

The Ottonavi unit supports the factory JBL amp (III Prius) without requiring an external "amp turn on" device. Otherwise the only advantage the Ottonavi unit has is price. The Advent unit has a better warranty, can handle satellite radio and has upgradeable maps.

My complaint with the Advent is price. At that price point I can purchase a Kenwood unit and get Garmin navigation, traffic and HD radio. I have no idea if I'll ever use HD radio.

Yes, I fully agree the price is a little hard to swallow. Also, don't get me wrong the Ottonavi units look pretty nice, however, right now, I have a Prius II cars, so I need the RCA amp outs.

I also have to tell you, in my last car, installed 18 months ago, my alpine head unit was somewhat of a major disappointment, bombed/crashed all the time, HD radio cut in and out and only worked half the time. Yes, it was also professionally installed!. That is why this time around I don't feel like I Am loosing to much by going Advent OR Ottonavi. Knowing my luck with car stereos I think I will be loving the three year warranty. For, what its worth HD was nice and much more clear (digital vs. analog) but not a deal breaker for me this time around.

I thought the Ottonavi included a harness with RCA outputs. You might contact them and confirm.

It does. It comes with 2 harnesses (JBL or not) or you can use the RCA outs.

    Sam,

Can you let me know how it works out, install and all, picture if you have them. Also, can I ask where you purchased it, my local installer is not getting back to me.

    Thanks in advance
