I ran into a lot of the same issues that folks in the prius v forums ran into.

    1) You need to connect the USB cable for entune to work reliably. This is caused by incompatibility with the bluetooth profiles for the phone and car. Toyota is apparently working on a fix for this.

    2) You really need to use an honest to goodness apple dock connector. The slick black belkin one I have sporadically reported "this accessory is not compatible with the iphone". This causes the iphone to disconnect and sometimes lose it's brain similarly to item 3) below.

    3) There are some odd glitches when switching between entune applications and the ipod functionality. Sometimes unplugging the USB cable and resetting the bluetooth connection fixes this. If you see the message "ipod registration failed" on the display you need to reboot the iphone completely (i.e. a full power off/power up cycle).

    4) There is an odd interaction between the entune app and the pandora app on the iphone. This left neither application functioning. I worked around this by quitting those application (double click on the home button, hold down the app until you see an x, click on the little x)

There may be another issue, which is charging amperage. USB provides 1/2 an amp, and iPhone 4 and 4s should get 1 amp, otherwise the battery may deplete while you're making a call. To provide the 1 amp, the charger needs to handshake correctly with the phone. I use a simple cigarette-style "fast charger" (1 amp) that's designed for iPhone. I often make 30 or 40 minute long calls with Bluetooth, and I arrive at my destination with a fully charged phone.

I haven't tried your particular system, but it's something to look for.

Right, when the phone drops on/off I do typically hear the charger connect sound so it probably has something to do with the amount of power provided. I do want to connect to the USB for the ipod functionality though, so I may need to get one of those USB "Y" cables and plut it into a second charger.

I don't think that will work. The phone has to signal with the charger that it can receive 1 Amp. It's not simply a matter of running two chargers in parallel.
