New to the forum, but very interested in the new V.

A local dealer advised that he would sell me one for $500 above Dealer Invoice. I realize that the new V is a brand new model and they are limited, but wondered if anyone could give me an idea if this is a fair mark-up?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks for your help.

When I bought my Prius v 3 last November, I actually paid MSRP so this sounds quite decent in comparison.

I just purchased a v5 last Saturday 03/03/12 and I paid sticker price these cars seem rare at the moment so that sounds like a good deal.

Are these vs getting that popular? Granted I'm in California where they seem a little cheaper, but I had no problems getting our v3 last Nov. for a few hundred under invoice. And I know I'm not the only one. (this is assuming invoice for a v3 is around $26,900, which includes the delivery fee and local advertising fee).

My Dealer had two v3 in-stock, but the v5 I purchased only came in a day or so before. I was originally looking to trade my 2009 Venza for a 2012 Venza, but I asked to test drive the v5 and fell in love with it.

May have been sales patter, but I was told that the v5 are hard to find and the v5 with the ATP is even harder. They really wanted to sell me another Venza. I got a good trade on my 2009. I'm paying less a month( than I would have been with a new Venza), less in insurance, saving on gas and scheduled maintenance. I got the blizzard white with the beige interior really sweet looking.

The Venza 4 cylinder AWD got on average 22.6mpg, was due for oil change and new tires all around. All in all although I paid sticker and this is properly the first car I have ever paid sticker on, I'm really pleased with the deal and the car. One very happy v5 Owner.

Things I miss are the power tail gate and (sounds stupid) the coin holder from the Venza but they don't diminish how pleased I'm with the car and dealer.

Motorman explore Truecar.com . I'm in the Midwest and ended up paying $250 over invoice for a pair of v with he help of the Truecar options. The west coast does appear to be cheaper than the Midwest or east coast. W

I got my v3 for $26,700, also in the Bay Area. I don't know how popular it really is, but, I swear, I saw, like, five vs on my commute yesterday.

I just bought mine yesterday and all of the sudden I noticed several Vs on the road. I'm also in the Bay Area but I had a great hookup. I got my V 3 with floor mats for $25,900. Apparently it really pays to know the right people at the right time. I love my V but can't wait to get it tinted and paint the wheel covers on Monday.

I paid about $400 under sticker for mine, here in Upstate South Carolina. That's about what they are going for, here.

I'm not too concerned, as I buy a new vehicle every 12-15 years or so and keep it almost forever.

I still have my last vehicle and it still runs very well. It's a 1998.

    I get my money's worth.

This is the price I expected the v3 to be at now that it's been out for a while. Which is why I'm surprised they are still going for over invoice, or barely under MSRP in other states.

I also noticed a ton more lately in the Bay Area. Just the other day, drove less than 10 miles round trip from our home, we saw 3 other ones besides our own!

    My, have things changed.

25-30 years, ago, when I lived in San Diego, cars were about 10% higher in California, and you always paid several hundred dollars over MSRP.

Dealer markups are no longer practiced here. I remember back in 89 when Supra turbo first came out. Dealer marked up $10,000 Dealers are hurting so they're willing to deal.

They are still hard to come by in the Midwest. There were 3 within 100 miles of me. W

Hey, I would have paid MSRP, if I had to, or even more.

How often have you found the exact car that you wanted, in the colors that you wanted, with the exact option level that you wanted, at the dealer 3 miles from your home? And, it was just there sitting on the showroom floor, when I walked in.

I just couldn't have been happier.

Hey, thanks so much for all the input.

You guys are great. The best part of this shopping is the help one
can receive from others here. One does not feel alone.

    The search continues.

May go with the V (5) only because the "Commander" has to have
"leatherette" heated seats. I do like the fog lights and the LED headlights.

    Thanks again. We'll see!

    The price battle is back.

Just received another quote of $100 over invoice!

Does invoice price include destination charges?????

I'm inclined to guess no but ask the person you are dealing with at the dealership for a breakdown of all costs going out the door. That will answer your question. I say to my salesman if that is your final price give me the whole picture. What else adds to the quoted price and get it in writing ( I don't insist on tax/title and tag because I can work that out myself.) I won't agree to anything until I see that final proposal. W

Edited to add: btw you are doing as good or better than we did. We paid $250 over but got a lot of accessories thrown in.
