At least you know it wasn't used in a drag race.

It's interesting -- all Hertz Rent2Buy cars advertise a single key/keyfob. My guess is that Hertz negotiates a special deal with the car manufacturers to only include a single key/keyfob, which saves Hertz money. This could also explain the lack of floor mats. I could be completely wrong about this.

My Prius came with a spare and jack. I find it odd they would be missing.

That's great about the tires! You are lucky they are doing that for you.

Not to worry rentals change oil religiously (unless someone took and ran it cross country twice w/o giving it back). They company ran shop for that. On down side small fender-benders are fixed there too, so they will never show up on CarFax report.

a few years back we purchased 1yo minivan rental, no issues.. but I had a mechanic check before purchase. Out of 5 on the lot 2 had indication of small fender benders, one had interior trashed.. this one was the right color. We looked at other dealerships, and the worse ones were the tread-ins some of them had the signs of serious accidents.

With respect to Pius, Prii are not the cheapest/easiest to rent, consider that avg Prius renter is much lesser risk good luck.

I was looking at a 2010 basic Prius at a dealer, they wamted 19k for it and and it was Toyota cert car, with 52k miles. no mats for cover in the luggage area. I drove it two days and went back and bought my 2012, major difference all around. this was a Enterpirse rental out of OK, and was in los angeles area. CarFax looked okay. Except for a few minor dings and nicks, I'm much happier paying the extra money and got the 2012.

Major difference how? Could you specify (aside from the minor dings and nicks)? Was the 2010 a little rough around the edges?

My Dad many years ago would buy rental units. But I was never crazy about the idea. I knew how I drove rental cars vs my own car. Not a crazy driver - but always "tested" the rental on how it could do. Also rental units can never be trusted that they were broken in properly.

A saving grace is that a daily rental goes through lots of drivers so isn't consistently abused in the same bonehead way over long periods of time.

I'm also curious about the major differences you speak about.

The 6" display, and the HSI display has also become higher resolution. New center console design as well. I'd say the interior received a major upgrade.

There are no 'major differences' ... purely a figment of the poster's imagination, and his happiness over having a brand new car as compared to a used car.

    Isn't a 2010 II being compared to a 2012 Three?

Congrats on your purchase, hope you get many miles out of the car. Oh by the way, my daughter lives in southern OC, say hello to her if you see her.:)

I know this thread is old but I'm curious to know, now that it's been two years, how has the rental car held up? I've been considering one.

I think that price is a little high for the condition you described it to be in. I bought mine earlier this year for $14,500. It's a 2010 III and had 57,000 miles on it at the time. The only thing is that it has a dent in the front bumper, but I just don't care enough to get a new bumper.

EDIT: Just read further below that you purchased it. I'm sure it will turn out to be a fine car.

I'm looking at one online from a hertz car sales dealer. White, 33k miles for $16,633. Trim level II. Judging by the pictures it looks to be in mint condition inside and out. The prius seems to be very reliable so imo it doesn't seem like it would be thay bad to buy a rental considering the people they attract. Plus, can you really "beat" a prius.
