Prius New member?MiniVan?2 seater? questions after test drive

    also, I have some questions after I tested a C today.

    1) is the battery charging when I leave off the gas after accelerate ? I saw that on the little monitor.

    2) how hard and how fast to brake before the fraction braking apply?
    below 40 mph? how do I know when the fraction braking apply? just feel it?

    They already make and sell mini-minivan hybrids elsewhere. The Prius alpha/plus is a 7-seater. It has a lithium battery to free up space. We have the Prius v 5-seater using a NiMH battery.

    Toyota doesn't think that the USA would buy a small 7-seater in sufficient quantities. Maybe high demand for the c will change their mind.

    People have wondered about hybridizing the Sienna, but I think that since the Sienna is heavier than the Highlander it wouldn't be that big a seller due to price or apparent efficiency.

    Anyway ...

    When you lift off the gas pedal the car simulates engine drag of an normal automatic by applying a little regenerative braking.

    If you press hard enough to fill the regenerative braking box it'll switch to friction braking.
    It is also always used for braking below 8mph.
    You shouldn't feel it since Toyota have worked to make it seamless.
