Yet another offset question

    Looking to pick up a new set of wheels.

    Wheels will either be 18x8.5 or 18x9.5

    Wheels will either be 17x8.5 or 17x9.5

    what offset will make these wheels flush? I dont mind if I have to do some fender rolling.

    will end up going with tein springs.

    On a Prius? :eek: Those seem to be huge wheels. I tried my 16x7 +35mm offset winter wheels from my Corolla & with my Eibach springs I was rubbing the inner fender front cover on really hard bumps in the road. I'm guessing that the same size wheel in a =40mm offset would have no rubbing at all. The wheels sizes you are looking at would be an issue I would think & with overly soft Tein springs it could make the problem worse.

    Prius does not need wheels that wide IMO. Gas mileage is going to seriously tank.

    17x7 42mm offset and my fronts would rub the outside fender liner if cornering hard and hitting a small bump. This was on a GenII though.

    I know 18X9.5 +32 fit.

    Still trying to figure out offset.

    Fitting & rubbing are 2 different things. The wheels will bolt on & fit but those wheels that wide with those offsets are going to rub something I would imagine. :eek:

    You may want to consider coilovers. That way you can adjust ride height in the event the tires rub.

    8.5", 9", or 9.5" wheels are simply going to "stick out" too far. Of course this is my opinion, but it just will not look right and as stated above...you are more likely to have rubbing issues when the suspension takes a heavy load as well. I have rubbed three times now with my setup which is relatively conservative.

    See below photo...this is a 7.5" rim with 45mm offset. It pretty flush with the fender well. To make it flush as your question asked...you need to go with a thinner wheel than you are looking at...7-8" or some extreme offset value.

    Well, the ones that came with my Fledermaus kit are
    Front: 18 x 7.5 + 50 Offset
    Rear: 18 x 7.5 + 42 Offset

    I have on my 11' prius III 17X8.5" ASA JH3 et 48 offset Rims with Bridgeston Potenza RE50 A Pole position tires 225/45/r17" tire. They are about 1.200" wider than the stock 15" 195/45/15 tires and there is no rubbing . My mpg has dropped to 46 mpg from 51 mpg. But the ride and handling has improved dramatically. You would love this improvment.
