One of the major problems with the volt is that it looks like an old, worn Impala or Dodge Dart. It's devoid of any style or personality. Reminds me very much of the K cars of decades ago. The thing this idiot is pointing out is that his new Volt needs a serious face lift.

No, the 'old, worn' look is not the issue.

I think the major issue is the price tag and the earlier concerns with the battery due to the NHTA with the volt that some may be harboring.

For me, while I have the Prius v, I just couldn't get over the layout inside of the car and also not liking the way the back window also suffers the very thing I didn't like with the standard Prius, that being the split rear window.

You will find that some people will like the certain car looks, regardless of the technologies, so I don't think the volt's look is the issue, but just the cost, even with the incentives, just makes it hard for some people.

Coming from a life long GM guy, I too had that mentality. Until I got tired of spending $150 per week filling up my Escalade and recently bought a 2012 Prius. I LOVE my Prius and am going to soon be selling my Escalade for a SECOND Prius, a V for the family while I drive my Prius III. I will gladly give my gas money to my family, my house, vacations, savings, college tuition for my girls, then to oil companies. Not to mention it is way more technologically advanced than my newer Escalade or 2008 BMW 55i that I got rid of a few months ago also at 18MPG.

Many people drive around in these gas hogs yet have no money to pay their rent, their mortgage or other necessities, or don't drive because of the gas situation we have.

What's sexier? Being broke but having a Hummer? Or driving a responsible but very nice car like a Prius and having more money in the bank at the end of the month? My Prius = FREEDOM to do whatever I want, WHENEVER I want.

    Just my 2 cents!

I'm totally with you on your sentiments, but I'm not sure if trading in multiple cars to pay for multiple newer cars (with larger loans/payments) save money when you calculate the full costs of all the newer cars and expenses.

Actually, my BMW was a wash, got rid of it for what it was worth. My Escalade has no loans on it, own it free and clear but it has a ton of miles.

However, considering it is a newer version, excellent condition, etc., I can sell it and get a Prius V for cash and have a whole new car with NO LOANS and a brand-new car warranty, in addition to saving a couple of hundreds of dollars a month in gas as my girlfriend now drives it with the kids all over town. It's a no-brainer in my opinion...

Sigh... at least he's pointed to the compact segment unlike his previous claims that the Cruze was/is the best selling car in America. It's too bad the Cruze has so far racked up a horrific reliability rating, getting the bottom two slots for small car reliability in Consumer Reports. It's not a bad looking car and has a pretty decent interior for a car in its price range.

Per Pictures - Sales charts of the top-10 best-selling cars of 2011 and December 2011, by class - National Cars | Examiner.com, the Corolla/Matrix was the best selling compact car of 2011 in the US.
