I'm a dog person who has a 4-1/2 year-old male Yellow Lab Retriever. Whenever it's possible, CandyBoy goes with me on errands,
the dog park, or visiting people. As a Lab,
it's like "Shedd City" with him, so as I'm preparing for my first "C" ride experience with
him, ultra protection will be going in that back
seat to protect my new "C" from him--whether
hair or nails. No leather seats available this time for my #3 "C" choice (which was useful for nail damage protection in other cars), and I have CandyBoy groomed once a month with the Furminator used. Any of you dog people out there have some suggestions and/or advice?

Ha I am dealing with this too. I had an old Accord before that I didn't care if it got dog hair everywhere. But this interior seems to LOVE to attract lint and dog hair.

I am about to order a pet hammock for the car (google it). I'm getting the Outward Hound one. It's basically a big hammock for the dog that links between the front seats and back seats. People swear by it on a dog forum I'm on. Plus it keeps the dog from flying when you hit the brakes.

I hope it works. I've used a sheet to cover the back seat before but my dog likes to paw at it to make a little cozy nest. Sigh.

Ever since we ended up at the Cat Nip Factory that one night, I do not let the cats in the car anymore. They can't park worth a damn and have lousy taste in Gin Joints!

I use the dog hammock in the back seat of my Gen III. Not only does it keep the seats from getting damaged, it also keeps them clean. Whenever I need to have anyone in the back seat, I just detach the hammock and put it in the back. No fuss, no muss :)

Dog owners need to periodically check the Traction Battery cooling vent for a build up of dog hair. The vent was to the right of the rear passenger seat in earlier Prii and was subject to getting clogged up with hair. Overheating the Traction Battery significantly reduces it's service life.

    Hi McRose:
Great Suggestion. I ordered the Outward Hound
Pet Hammock at amazon.com at $14.95 each. Since I have 2 cars, I ordered 2 of them which also gave me free shipping for totals more than $25.
    Many Thanks!

Thanks, Bill. I think it's a great idea. Someone else also suggested this product--and it's been
    ordered from Amazon.com.

Well, I have doggie seat belt clips that supposedly will stop them from flying out the window if there's a car accident. I guess the hammock can't really be used with them? It just looks like they har freedom to run around in the hammock? Thanks!

Bill: If you can get your dog(s) to agree to being fastened to a seat belt, I congratulate you! I don't think my "born-free" stubborn male yellow Lab would be cooperative in that
endeavor! :flypig: --Maybe if Pigs Fly!

We use hammock type rear seat covers for the dogs. They do have cutouts (at least the ones we got) for seatbelts so the harnesses will work.

Now if only someone can figure out how to keep the dog spit and nose prints off the inside glass...:D

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Nice to see others aren't shy about driving their dogs around.

We used to drive our late, great cat around too but she was prone to motion sickness.:)

Do you remember where you got your hammocks with the seat belt cut outs? That sounds like my best option. ;)

I feel your pain. The number of times that I've cleaned those back windows!

Mine has the seat belt cut outs as well. I'm pretty sure I picked it up at Petsmart.
