Replaced 2 Transaxles and the HV Battery and Still Not Working... advice please.

    I’m very happy to report that the third time was a charm! I put the 3rd transaxle in over the weekend and it runs great! Whoa, what a journey and a relief. I really really appreciate all the support from everyone on PriusChat!!! Thank you!!!

    I was surprised to find that I had the old one pulled and the new one in all on Saturday. Unfortunately I’ve gotten good at it. Sunday I put the drive axles back in and added the fluids. Sunday night I celebrated with a large margarita. Sharing some pictures of my Saturday below…

    Congratulations!

    It is very unfortunate that the other two transaxles apparently were bad, which wasted lots of your time. Do you plan to take them apart to see if you can find obvious flaws with the stator windings - or any other problems?

    Wow......what a long road u went down......but at least the 3rd time was a charm. Congrats on now being a pro at a tranny swap.

    I admire your skill and determination. May you have many years of economical and trouble-free driving.

    Quick question (it's pobably answered above but 11 pages of posts are a lot of reading). Do you have to pull out the ICE to swap the transaxel? Or can you leave it in?

    Another one: Is that a clutch plate I see? I thought the Prius operated without clutches.

    It is a damper. It follows the same principle as a typical lockup torque converter, which also has a similar-looking damper, that there needs to be a way to smooth the transition between engaged vs. disengaged.

    I don't think I'm going to try find the issue with the others. Not sure what to do with them other than break them down and recycle the metals.

    They are a saleable item, and the problem may be minor. Taking them apart might prove very educational as well as fiscally rewarding. They take up very little space in your carport. But for now enjoy the fruits of your labor, you have earned it !!!
