Putting in a 6000k hid kit in my c as soon as the postman delivers it. If you do it you need h11 bulbs. Then will follow with LEDs for the little headlight parking lamp and super whites for high beam.

Please give me the details or where to buy this kit. Also since 6000K is really powerful, do you think that the fuel economy is affected by the HID Kit?
    Greatly Appreciate your response,
    Thanks

6000k has nothing to do with power, it is the color of light produced [the kelvin]

lights will have nothing to do with the fuel economy at all.

yes, the 6000k is what I'm looking for. Safe to assume from your post that a conversion kit is necessary... any one in particular you recommend?

Actually it does but it may be a small effect. Anything that runs off electricity will negatively affect fuel economy in the Prius. :(

This is the kit that we recommend. Keep in mind the higher the Kelvin rating the less light. Factory HID bulbs in BMWs, Lexus, Mercedes etc. are 4300K. 5000K is a nice happy medium between white light and max brightness.

You can read about them and HID lighting in general at HIDPlanet.com. It is THE resource for high end lighting. HiDplanet : The Official Automotive Lighting Forum - The Buzz

You'll quickly realize why you shouldn't bother with cheap $40 HID kits.

For how-to videos created by PriusChat members simply type "Prius HID install" into your google search then click videos. A few will pop up. They should give you enough info to complete the install on a c.

I work for Toyota so I will have a master tech friend of mine in our shop do the hid install. He also put a kit in my wife's rav4. Will post pics ASAP. Should be a little splicing mount the ballasts and plug and play. I chose the 6000k kit because I'll have hid on low beam only. Also, anything brighter could attract potential stops from law enforcement.my wife's car is 5000k and they are plenty bright.

You'll attract more attention the bluer the light gets. Going to 6000K puts you right at the limit because it looks nothing like OEM. :)

The kits are plug and play so you are set! It shouldn't take long. Please please please get a wall shot for us. I really want to see if it is the same as the GenIII Prius.

HID kit is what I want to do.

will the HID ballast affect the invertor under the hood? it just right next to the headlamp assembly.

What I want to do is put TWO of the HID ballasts all the way to the left side of the engine bay and use extension wire to send power to other side of the HID bulb.

I heard the HID ballast may have some affect to the inverter?

I just replaced the high beams with a 35W, 4300K slim ballast conversion HID kit from ebay. Literally plug and play. :thumb:

I tie wrapped the ballasts to the underside of those metal brackets/braces near the fenders.
