My 2005 Prius has 110k on her.

I need a new compressor and AC dryer/receiver. The dealership quoted me just under $1,900 installed. I can get the parts online for $800, but I'm unsure what the labor would be on the install.

Any tips on getting the AC fixed?

If I decided to *sell* her and get a Gen III, what would be a good price?

She has a lot of scrapes on her sides and fenders from working in a too-tight parking garage, but other than that and the busted AC runs great.

Would I be smart to get the AC fixed before selling?

    Thanks so much!

It sounds like you have quite a beater. Fix the A/C only if you are going to keep the car, or if it causes HV isolation faults. You may want to explore having an independent shop fix it with a used part. Some possible places to call for quotes:

    Hillmuth Automotive (Maryland)
Mac's Service Center in Ashland, Virginia
Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicle PHEV

    Maybe an independent A/C shop...

If you are selling it, get the A/C fixed but as cheaply as possible. Certainly not $2000! You should be able to get remanufactured/used parts replaced for $400-$600 at an independent auto A/C shop.
