Saw a 2012 Prius today with 18 inch wheels in for oil change at local dealer. Funny thing is it wasnt lowered, no trim kit, and looked great. Anyone else here done this? How much of a hit does 18s do to mpg? I got a picture but cant figure out how to post yet.

There aren't too many 18"-wheel Prius that look comparable to stock 17"-wheel Prius undropped and of course it all depends on the specs. Here's one example. If you're not careful, it'll look funky or goofy on stock ride height for sure. Expect a larger mpg hit with 18" wheels regardless of specs.

from what i hear... 18's the largest you can go. i'm not sure if that's at a 215 width or not.. but i think it is. i even recall a 225 somewhere.. but that seems a little unnecessary. the cap for a genII is 17's.. the cap for genII is 18's... (without mods)

You can run 19 inch no problem or even 20s, but you need the correct offset and tire size.

here are my 18s with stock springs...

And now with the Eibach kit...

I am saving tons of gas even with my 18s...my last fill up was 49.1 calculated. Beats the hell out of my 12mpg Titan or my 25mpg Miata. Keep in mind my climate helps quite a bit.

I'd have to say you had one of the few 18"-wheel Prius that don't look bad at all undropped.

DR-33's do look good even on stock height:D. Hey Nine, I noticed your getting mighty close to the 50 mpg milestone. Pretty damn good on 18's. What psi are u currently running on your DWS?

47 front; 45 rear. These tires have a much higher rating at 51psi than some others. The ride is pretty stiff...but to be honest I like it that way.

It's interesting how that works. I used to run 50/48 in my GenII 15s without any issues. The same pressure in my 17s was a bit on on the stiff side so I ran a lower setting. On the GenIII with my Ascends, 50/48 is way too stiff. So even though they are rated at 51psi max I find them way too stiff at that nothing higher than 44/42.

Don't I know it(stiffness). When I do put back the 17's, I'm thinking of lowering the pressure a bit as I think 51-50 psi on my DWS is too jarring especially after feeling the comforts of my 15's:D.
