Just bought Friday, so still learning the Display Audio system. Had a little trouble getting BT going, but success after a few minutes. Unfortunately I seem to have set up Bluetooth phone and Bluetooth audio/music, when I only wanted phone. I have a simple Net10 phone with BT, but I don't keep music on my phone, would rather use iPod or iPad for that. But now my phone is giving a repeated error message like 'no music.' The manuals all explain how to connect, but not how to disconnect or reinstall. Can I turn off audio and have phone only in the car?

I'd love to know the answer to this as well. Its a programming implementation issue. Each way to connect with Bluetooth uses a standardized/agreed upon - "profile". There is one for phone and a different one for audio. I have seen software / product implementations in products that are just audio but have never personally seen one implemented as phone and not audio. For example, I do not believe my iPhone has the ability to connect with just phone. Once you turn on Bluetooth, you get both. I believe the Prius I have (2011) is the same way though I may have missed something. And once two items are 'paired', you can not pair another bluetooth audio device to either as far as I know. The other issue is the pairing priority meaning if the car finds more than one bluetooth device that it has paired with before, it decides which one has high priority. I am not sure what the prius algorithm is - could be most recently paired, or perhaps something else. The safest thing to do in a car is turn off bluetooth on every device you don't want paired.

the 2010 allows pairing up to 4 phones and 2 media players but connects 1 at a time. I can connect to my phone for phone and another phone as media player. not sure if 2012 is the same due to Entune.

Not true on the 2012 v. My wife doesn't have music on her iPhone so when we are in the car together she is hooked up for phone and mine is for music all via Bluetooth.

Any idea how she connected her iPhone as a BT phone without also connecting it for BT audio/music?

Yes I posted this in another thread. You go into setup and select bluetooth. From Bluetooth you should see paired devices. Select it and a list of devices will come up. They have 3 icons to the right of their name. The first icon looks like a phone. If it is highlighted then that is the current phone connected to the system.

The second icon is for music. Just select it by pressing on the icon and it then will connect. Now obviously you have to have more than one device registered to do this. If you only have one device registered you have no other choices. Just for the record, the 3rd icon is for the Internet.

when you initially pair the phone, it doesn't pair the media player. You'll have to pair that after you've paired the phone.

I can't tell you details of how to do it, but I have my 2012 Four with solar roof package working so that when I get in the car with both my cell phone and iPod, I can make calls using the hands-free via the cellphone and also stream music from my iPod. Occasionally it will connect to my phone for both phone calls and music, but then I go to "BT" under audio and hit the "connect" button and it says something like "Nokia 300 is currently connected as phone and music player. Disconnecting as music player may also disconnect as phone. Would you like to continue?" and I say "yes" and select my iPod, and then both will work (phone for calls, iPod for music).

Thanks folks, I do have the phone sorted out for phone only, no music or data.

However, every time I get in the car the Prius searches for a Bluetooth connection (good) and I have to acknowledge a connect message on my phone to make the connection (bad). But I'm sure that's an issue/setting on my phone I have to figure out.

    Getting there...

Yes, I think that's a phone setting. On my Nokia, after pairing, the next time I drove the car I had to respond to a message on my phone asking to accept the pairing, but then it (the phone) said something like "automatically accept connection from CAR MULTIMEDIA from now on?" and I said yes and don't have to respond anymore.
