Rosen Nav installed... first impressions.

The Rosen is an older design. People looking for a similar unit are looking at the Advent unit. People who want to save some money, who don't need Sirius/XM and who aren't concerned with maps which can be upgraded are going with the Ottonavi unit (or similar units on Ebay). Ottonavi is available on their website, through Amazon and Newegg. It's becoming somewhat mainstream.

 

Thanks for the reply. To make it more clear. I had the VAIS iPod connector installed yesterday. I have the JBL radio without nav and the VAIS did not do it for me. Songs, playlist nor are any other information displayed correctly. The installer suggested the Rosen with navigation, iPod, and XM. Before going tha route, I was searching for user feedback.

 

If you want XM radio check the Advent threads. If you don't need Sirius/XM also check the Ottonavi threads.

The Advent requires an external box to "turn on" (use) your JBL amp. The Ottonavi seems to have have that capability built in.

 

Great and thanks for the information. When I called the installer back, I got the actual technician who agreed with you. The owner was pushing Rosen, but later said he could not remember the name of Advent. They have ordered the unit with the extra box and should be installed on Saturday.
