What settings on the airconditioning/climate controls results in the best mileage. Yesterday, while in EV mode with 8+ miles remaining, I pushed the AC button. The EV miles remaining quickly dropped 7, 6, 5, 4 in less than a minute until I quickly saw what was happening and turned the AC off.

Here in Arizona I have engaged AC while in EV mode. Typically I see a 10-12% drop in the EV range at that point. However I have a 3.1 mile commute and the last 2 trips with AC on at 72 degrees I used up 2.5 miles EV and drove 100% EV to work. :)

Did you also have ECO mode engaged (OP)?

Yes, I was operating in ECO-EV mode.

You are just seeing the result of averaging.

More useful is to know consumption rates.
Moderate AC once the cabin is cooled off is about 500 - 1000 watts
Moderate driving is about 7500 watts

So expect AC to drop range 5 - 10%

for best mpg's gas or electric, set fan to 'off', heat to 'low' if anything is on, it will cause more battery usage and/or gasoline.
