Tire rack states that the 175/65/15 tire is ok on a 6.5" rim

Yep, I saw that and am pretty happy that the stock tires will fit my incoming wheels.

I'd really like some white 15" in place of my stock 16"s. Don't want to pay anything though :D

I've been shopping for wheels and have noticed that moving to a 16 or 17 inch rim will change the outer diameter of the tire to 23.7 or 24.3 instead of the 24in diameter of the 175/65/15.
Does anybody know how much this would affect the speedometer or odometer?

What effect do different sized rims have on the turning radius and mpg?

Yes, I have my doubts if this will work, too, despite what Tire Rack has listed. The wheels are on Oahu right now... should be here on Kauai tomorrow at the post office. Crossing my fingers that I can get the tires mounted tomorrow afternoon and have them on the car by the weekend.

I'll be sure to take pics and report back once everything has been completed.

15x6.5 Konig Heliums. Not on Tire Rack's site, but have used these rims on previous cars and they are lightweight, high quality rims, despite what some may think.

My first rule of thumb when shopping for aftermarket rims... make sure they are lighter than the rims you are replacing. Are they?

What is the weight of a stock wheel and tire? How much weight can you trim off by going aftermarket? KKIM will have to hgive us all the details.

kkim already did. You just have to read his other thread where he weight his OE wheels. :)

I've covered this before in other threads, but stock wheel/tire is 32lbs. stock wheel alone was 16.5lbs. I used a lightweight 6.5 alloy rim that weighs 11.5 lbs, so my combined wheel/tire weight was 28lbs.

here's a great resource to use when shopping for lightweight rims.

Thanks for such a informative Thread. I was at the local Tire Shop and found some wheels made by Drag. The style is M33. It is a 7 spoke alloy wheel that weighs about 14lbs. I am thinking about the Black with Red stripe around the lip. It should offset well with the Absolutly Red color. Although Silver is nice as it kinda Pops. Choices to be made. I am staying with the 15" so that I do not mess with the ODO and mileage. Anyway thanks again for all the info.

For those of us with the 16" stock wheels, how do you go about having the rack or whatever adjusted to get back down to the smaller turning radius if you get 15" wheels? This a simple thing the dealership can do?
