Does anyone know how to connect the EVSE without charging? I'm planning to be away for a couple of days and I want to leave it plugged in but keeping the battery empty. Then I want to start the charging remotely so that when I get back, I can immediately drive off with a full charge. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to figure out a way to connect the EVSE w/o charging.

I recalled that if you plug it in in Ready mode, a message displays saying to turn off the car then reconnect the EVSE. I tried this, but as soon as the car is turned off it starts charging. So far the best I can do is use the charge timer so it starts ~24 hours after I plan to leave, but that still means it will be stored with a full charge for a day.

Buy a digital plug timer with weekly scheduler. I have one for my Vectrix. It plugs right in the wall plug and the plug the EVSE in the timer.

    Something like this

Unfortunately, that will not work with an L2 EVSE. Also, I have the US version of that timer for a automatic pet feeder and I've had to replace it twice, so I don't really trust that particular model either.

If you connect the EVSE and then immediately stop the charging with the remote app, I think it will remain stopped until you start it again.

How are you able to stop charging with the Entune App? I'm running it on an iPhone 4S and when charging, there is a blue button that says "Now Charging", but pressing it does nothing.

If you're only going to be away for a few days charging it before you leave will cause no harm. If you feel more comfortable give it a manual 3/4 charge then just top it off or before you drive it the next time out, or just drive it with a 3/4 charge.

i'm not sure that simply applying power to the EVSE will cause the car to start charging. my L2 charger was crashing repeatedly - my leaf seems to start charging as soon as the EVSE has rebooted and powered up. the PIP did not. i had to unplug and re-plug the prius to get it to start charging again.

maybe if you have a charge timer set and you make sure to power up the EVSE before the timer activates, it would work.

Do you anticipate needing the car as soon as you get back? Or could you plug the car in after you get back? We go away every weekend, so when I get home from work on fridays, I don't bother plugging in until we get home late sunday night.
