Wife and I just bought our first Prius v 3 last Saturday. Couldn't be happier. We were looking for a car for 2 kids, 2 greyhounds, and fuel economy. On a lark we started looking at hybrids and came across the v. Finding exactly what we wanted in the St. Louis area proved fairly difficult, but in the end we paid $85 over invoice. Felt like we got a deal. I won't plug the dealer here unless somebody asks, but the deal was basically done over the phone. Picked it up and out of the dealership in about a half hour.

Also, after getting 4 quotes on an extended warranty, Troy (recommended from this site) provided the best deal by far. Closed that deal today. I'm not a fan of extended warranties, but my wife is, so end of discussion there.

The v replaces an '03 Xterra. While a reliable car for 9 years, until t-boned, I am thrilled to at least triple the fuel efficiency. And not sacrifice any storage space.

At any rate, this forum has already saved us money, given us ideas (leather seat covers!), and provided peace of mind with fellow owners. Sorry to drone on like a kid with his first girlfriend, but damned if that's not how it feels. Now to kill that damned reverse beeping...

Luck, most likely. We had every expectation to pay a premium for the demand. When the sales manager told me the price + $85 admin fee, I had to double check him twice. Now, full disclosure, the "only" 3 in the color we wanted within 200 miles he could find had an additional $300 in accessories we never would have asked for, so maybe that's how he "got" me. But even at ~$400 over invoice, I was satisfied. Ain't no mud gettin' on my tires.

Enjoy! The dealer de-beeped us for free. ( I put it in the contract after supplying instructions from a member here.) please give your hounds and ear scratch for me. This is my first year without one in 16 years and it's been hard.

It is hard not to gush bout this really one of a kind car. Right now nothing with the cargo space can come close to the fuel economy. I'm sure it's coming but not yet at least.

Funny thing or me on the v. I've seen 2 on the road (excluding ours) in 2 states and both were blizzard pearl. I have yet to see any others yet and I watch. I did get a funny look from a lift back driver though. Not sure they'd ever seen a v by the stare.

I checked one on the internet as soon as I saw the wagon back. My local dealer quoted me a price of the V+ATP $1,700.00 less than the sticker. The next day I went to make a deal but was told that it had to be EXACTLY the one pictured on the web which was the RED one but I wanted a Classic silver. They went on line and checked around and found one 350 miles away, so they asked for $850 extra. I then asked for 4 accessories: cargo net, floor mat, mud flaps and rear bumper applique and it's a deal.
I was told to wait a week or so but it showed up in 2 days.
Now I am adding accessories like crazy...

Can you give some more detail on the leather seat covers?

Hmmm, same 4 accessories that came with ours for ~$300. Starting to see where the dealers are making their money.
