    $300. There is no way getting around this. It's an easy way for them to make at least that much profit on each car....and they will never budge on it.

    Misery loves company :D I was wondering if they had multiple sheets they could pull out depending on type of deal they cut :) I got a pretty good offer on my trade and was wondering if they pulled the $300 sheet to gain back some of what they lost.

    Mine was listed at $250. I said "I don't pay BS fees". The F&I guy laughed hard, smiled, hesitated for a second and crossed it out.

    Previously known as ADM: Additional Dealer Markup. Under this new name, it is now capped by my state at $150, raised from $50 three years ago.

    It is OK just as long as you are clearly negotiating the total price, i.e. with this item already added in.

    I got charged one, can't remember the amount. They did have to come over to PA to register the vehicle so I made them work for it. Good thing about NY, you get a rebate check for the funds they did not expend. The dealer handed me a check for $65 on my last visit.

    Is this the fee they charge for doing the DMV paperwork? If so, mine was $75, which I think is the cap in Oregon for that type of fee.

    That is what they want you to believe. But they did the same paperwork back in the 20th Century without charging an extra line item. That is why this is really just added profit.

    Doc fees are unavoidable, but they vary. I found that Southeast Toyota Distributors have a very high fee, which they won't negotiate; it was $589, back in 2010. I bought in New Hampshire, where their doc fee was $30.

    I don't recall paying those. Maybe when I go pick up the car. But PA has a tire TAX i paid 5 bucks for lol. :mad:

    Yep, paid $589.50 at Town and Country Toyota in Charlotte, NC. It is a Southeast Toyota Distributor. All the dealers around here have that fee. It does fluctuate a bit and ranges from $300 - $600. Does seem some of the small town dealers have lower fees, but still high.

    Have not found a dealer who would budge off them. You just gotta negotiate the best deal on the car you can and know you gotta pay the fee. I did buy my car in NC and live in SC so they had to go to SC to get my plates and send me. A little inconvenience for them, but still ridiculous.

    When I bought my '10 used, there was no mention of doc fees, just negotiated an out the door price. When we went over the paperwork, there was a $350 doc fee listed, but I didn't care where they put the $$$s, just the amount I had to put on the check.
