Well you got me on that stat. Hopefully that reduction was due to the backup camera, or it's really kind of pointless.

Oh and btw, we even have people on this forum finding ways to successfully display the rear camera while moving forward. Another great lifesaving rear camera argument.

I've never heard of that. Could you please explain why displaying the rear view camera while moving forward would save lives.

I didn't say anything about the pros & cons of backup cameras. That's your slippery slope, not mine. My point was that highway and automobile engineering have contributed to remarkable reductions to auto-related unintentional injuries and deaths.

Yes, if you press the top left button to turn park assist off, then pressing the bottom left button cycles through the different options. Don't forget to turn park assist back on after you've made your selection.

Thanks, did have a brief play with the buttons this afternoon. Looks like one can select the spot where to park the car. I thought I need to drive by a parking slot to make the car detect a space first.
Well, looks like something to try. Preferably on a large and empty parking place otherwise :bump2:

Sorry, I did not say that: The photo is from a 2010 model. I did not use the PA yet, only the camera.

It depends. If you use the Pre-Support function (assuming that feature made it over to Italy), you press the Park Assist button to the right of the steering wheel, low on the dash (below the POWER button). If you know how to position the car correctly, you can move the car into position, shift into Reverse and then press the appropriate onscreen button (bottom left or bottom right depending on whether you're parallel parking or reverse parking). Adjust the box, if necessary, and if it's green, press OK.

I know, i'm just saying that it's not available on the 2012.
So maybe the lines disappeared right along with it?

It's only available on the HDD nav units (which is why he has it. He's in Italy). We never had the guidelines until the Prius v with the HDD nav. Has that not translated over to the 2012 Prius?

You don't have the Adv Tech package on your 2010. Those guides show up only if you're using Park Assist, not during normal reversing.

Old post but just joined prius chat. LOVE it. I have found the best use for the backup camera. When in a parking spot with a big SUV next to you. the rear bumper sticks out enough that the wide angle lens will let you see if a car is coming down the isle. Other then that, it is cool to say Hey look what I have in my new prius.
